We can’t get enough of these colors! Here are a few more shots of last night’s #NorthernLights taken by Natalie Krivova, Oliver Stenzel and others from #mpsgoettingen. Hoping for clear skies tonight! #Aurora#Auroraborealis
"The northern lights, or aurora borealis, put on a colorful show across the Pacific Northwest late Friday night into early Saturday morning. And there could be a repeat performance Saturday night."
We grew up in Alaska, but don't currently live there. Long for the lights every winter.
Watching people see the auroras for the first time -- especially those who thought they would never see them -- has been such a surprising and wonderful boost to the spirit.
Growing up under them was formative in ways I can't put to words, and I'm so glad more people have had a bit of that experience.
I want Aurora and all of these gorgeous photos and moments of awe to remind us that we live on a delicate planet, hurling through space, and that this planet is our shared home and ours to nurture. I want us to remember how it renewed our connection, curiosity, presence and morale.
“There’s no place like home,” she said. “There’s no place like home.” 🌎
Allow me to add to the torrent of #Aurora Borealis photos. These are from Cambridgeshire, taken with a Nikon D5300. Never seen this phenomenon in person before, it was unforgettable. My partner and I even saw 2 meteorites while we were out, one of which visibly sizzled out into sparks. #northernlights#solarstorm
Looking through my DSLR photos from last night, it's clear I was more interested in watching the aurora than photographing it 😬
And I thought about binning this shot for being massively out-of-focus 🙄
But y'know, it has a certain colourful charm, not least because Ursa Major is writ large in the corner, & maybe it's fine to just go with the flow 🤷♂️
In case you missed the Northern lights View, here it is!
The northern lights made a stunning appearance across the world on Friday after the most powerful solar storm in more than two decades struck Earth. It was seen in part of Europe like Canada and Australia.
I’m going to do a longer video/newsletter on this Monday but here is why you might have been seeing the Northern Lights yesterday (and if you’ll see them again this weekend)
Once in a while nature decides to put up a show that we only dream about seeing one day. Yesterday was one such day. Here are some shots from the northern lights that greeted us after sun down. Absolutely spectacular, breathtaking and ethereal!
