"This tax season, more than 140,000 taxpayers in 12 eligible states made use of Direct File — which allows users to submit simple tax returns directly to the government."
"Senate Finance Committee chair Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) called the expansion 'tremendous news for taxpayers all over the country who are tired of getting ripped off by the big tax prep companies …' "
I just read an article in the NYT describing how India has become very attractive to big investors. No mention in the article about the risks posed by climate change. I'm down to two remaining articles I can share today from Wapo. Here's one about brutal heat and water shortages in India. I wonder if the investors factor climate disasters happening right now into their decisions?
Sure this will be talked about for a while, but history was made today. And, I’m hopeful, justice prevailed. Here’s how it was reported by my local paper. https://wapo.st/3KoMJh8#GiftLink#TFG#WaPo
When you’re a right-wing actor who’s good with computers, you may be confident that you’re the one who can prove the existence of something that doesn’t exist.
“In Caperton v. A.T. Massey Coal Co., from 2009, the court held that a state supreme court justice was constitutionally disqualified from a case in which the president of a corporation appearing before him had helped to get him elected by spending $3 million promoting his campaign.”
"Three Black men sued American Airlines in federal court Wednesday, claiming they were victims of “blatant and egregious race discrimination” after employees ordered them and five other Black men off a plane in January."
"Former president Donald Trump promised to crush pro-Palestinian protests on college campuses, telling a roomful of donors ... that he would expel student demonstrators from the United States, according to participants in the roundtable event with him in New York."
It is altogether fitting that we remember not just those who have fallen, but those who first honored the sacrifice that saved the United States. #GiftLink

"The organization helps children in a dignified way: It sends gift cards so the adults in their lives get to be seen as the heroes and those children never have to know they received charity. In that column, I wrote that the organization had spent about $27,000 the year before to help 377 children in the D.C. metro area. ... You helped make that happen."
Grand juries in four New Hampshire counties have indicted political consultant Steve Kramer for using an AI impersonation of #Biden to urge Dems not to vote in NH’s presidential primary. Kramer faces over 24 counts split between impersonating a candidate—a misdemeanor—and voter suppression—a felony.
Somehow, WaPo decided to bring Biden into the conversation, as if Biden’s gaffe when he accidentally referenced the pandemic in lieu of the 2008 recession was ANYTHING AT ALL SIMILAR to casually alluding to the third reich (on purpose) in an orchestrated video.
(but the videos in this #GiftLink are interesting)
