I was a big Greek mythology buff at school. My dad had bought an encyclopedia in the late '70s, and I was learning everything about it via it. Naturally, my favorite character was goddess Athena. All about knowledge & wisdom. The most kind-hearted of the gods too. So I had to paint a portrait in her honor.
This is a bit of my accordion #inktober2023 book opened on the coffee bar at the cafe. The front side where the technique was easier to control. Just like any project, I was able to finish it by lowering my standards. #urbansketching
So, I'll like to discuss what's going on with the two major online shops that artists rely on to sell prints and products. Well, they've been hard at it in getting their own #enshittification, as they now require monthly subscriptions from artists in order to allow them to upload their art for sale. Gone are the days where everyone could make an account and sell their art. Now you gotta pay to play. Basically, they get their cut from sales, and now they get subscription money too. The golden age for any kind of social media business and subsequent running an online shop was from 2010 to 2020. If you were around during that time, congrats! You probably had an art career. Today, it's near impossible to do so.

A walrus painted on watercolor. BTW, I've noticed that engagement on the fediverse is way down than it was 2-3 months ago. I do hope people return. Personally, I use almost nothing but the fediverse services now: PixelFed, Mastodon, Lemmy. The chronological feed, and finding new users to follow via hashtags, is the only thing that makes sense to me. These recommendation engines on the big social media is a total #enshittification of usability. You can never be found there, if the algorithm doesn't like you for any reason.
