But the beauty of it all, all of these are connected to the fediverse. You can follow any user regardless of which software they are using; AND regardless which server (domain name) they signed-up for.

If you are on one of the many Fediverse platforms and want to be more discoverable I highly suggest adding your profile to this opt-in directory. If you aren’t sure how: first, add the #fedi22 hashtag to your profile’s bio, then go to the directory’s website, click on the menu > Directory, click “Add Account”, and follow the instructions from there.
You may also want to add more relevant hashtags to your bio first to improve discoverability.
As you migrate to #Mastodon from #Twitter, it’s helpful to understand that while the #Fediverse is decentralized, there are ways to discover other people with your interests, and (just as importantly) help them discover you.
Adding “#fedi22” to your bio and registering your profile at https://fediverse.info/explore/people puts your profile in a directory to facilitate discovery based on shared interests.

@blobcat it is kind of weird that the opt in hashtag for this is #fedi22, like you're excluded if you weren't part of the twitter migration or whatever, or like the fediverse only existed since 2022....
Who actually thought that using hashtags in the profile is a good way to express consent or refusal of something?
I definitely wanna add 100 hashtags to my profile just to opt-in or opt-out of various services.
The first thing I do every morning is spending an hour to check if there is some new fedi bot so I can add the appropriate hashtags to my profile :neocat_facepalm:
