As I knew I was on holiday for soft freeze I got all my #qemu maintainer PRs in early for 9.0. It is now released to the wild. The big #arm64 update is FEAT_NV2 emulation as well as a number of enhancements to various board models (and some deprecations of the older unloved code). For #tcg#plugins we now support reading register values as well as a new thread-safe inline ops API. The #gdbstub also saw a number of tweaks. More to come for 9.1 and the tree is now open ;-) https://www.qemu.org/2024/04/23/qemu-9-0-0/
Pokemon cube v1.0 in its entirety, featuring Base, Jungle, Fossil, Rocket and Promos. All that's left for this now is to spend the next few months getting the real cards to replace the proxies of the expensive stuff.
Next year will be the year of adding in Gym Heroes and Gym Challengers to complete the full G1 experience, and then I might move onto Gen 2 since that's still WotC and not power crept yet
Mail day! Latest round of Pokemon cards for the cube - this time its from Team Rocket so we get the powerful but lower HP Dark monsters. We've also got our first promo for the cube, the Mew in the lower right which is from around the release of the first movie
Check out Six Forms, "a 'chess style' trading card game crafted for players with a competitive spirit and desire for evocative high-fantasy art," which launched today on Kickstarter. Congrats @kevindees!
Tension around #Kinmen waters rising: The #Taiwan Coast Guard (TCG) chased a #Chinese vessel that crossed into Taiwanese waters earlier this month. As they fled, the Chinese boat capsized. Two Chinese fishermen died.
#China asked those who caused the incident to go to China for further investigation, and for the TCG to apologize to the families of Chinese fishermen. All such requests have been denied. #TCG has sent delegations to China to negotiate compensation but have so far failed.
Hey anybody on the Fediverse got experience with the #pokemontcg ? I got the My First Battle box for my 5 year old and he loves it. We played for two hours and he wanted to play more today. He rarely does anything longer than an hour before wanting to move on.
Question I have is where I should go from there? He’s fairly good a remembering details and rules but I don’t want to start dropping a bunch of rules on him right now away. I can see the starter decks get tired after a bit though so I am wondering what’s the best slow growth path for him?
I also want to try to stave off the addiction that is opening boosters. I know it’s a feature of TCG but I also know how easy it is to fall into the hole of MORE and I’m trying to teach him consuming with purpose, not just getting stuff to have more stuff you know? So things that provide the most bang for your dollar would be best.
#QuestionOfTheDay for fans of fiction that got cancelled/ended prematurely/never finished for whatever reason:
Would you rather never get a conclusion to a story you really wished continued or have the conclusion happen in something like a Fortnite crossover event?
I now have taken my first step in collecting Pokémon cards, on account of my 7yo having doubles he thinks he doesn’t need.
He was so proud of me having my own I could hardly refuse. So far I have the whole of two.
I never was interested in them, or Pokémon in the first place. Maybe it was because I fell just out of the demography when it came out, but more likely because I am just deeply uninterested in the franchise.
McDonalds here actually has them in their Happy Meals right now, which makes them both the most useful toys in a long time, and a dangerous introduction of kids to cardboard crack.
Not that my son would have gotten around that so easy, all his new friends in school seem to play the game, and when his best friend came by he told him he finally has his own. Even though a month ago he didn’t even know the game existed.
I can't help but feel a bit proud if when I'm posting with a question in the MTG judges chat that multiple judges respond, and that they correct eachother. #mtg#magicthegathering#tcg
I'm curious how the new Play Boosters will play out at the LGS level for limited events. I see problems ahead...
Yes, you get more "value" with them if you're trying to collect the set or get cards with which to build constructed decks. However, I know a LOT of players who only want the Limited experience, and don't care about other formats. For them, this change is only going to result in the game quickly becoming more expensive.
Feedback on Black Gardens Deck?
What if anything would you change about this deck?...
