Also be aware of the pitfalls of #activism so it doesn't backfire or be largely ineffective. For instance don't put yourself on a pedestal as a bringer of #SocialChange, privileged and overly judgmental of "those not activist enough" in your eyes.

"#ClimateActivist group #RisingTide had organized the protest to block the traffic of coal cargo ships in the port of Newcastle since Saturday.
"The group said on its Twitter account that at least 59 people have been arrested so far.

also love #comics especially #webcomics and #satire . Not really into superhero type comics, unless they're the newer ones like the "New 52". I prefer self-contained series with a little bit of weirdness to them like Saga, Rat Queens, and a bunch others I can't remember the names of right now. Often I'll go to the library and check out a fat stack of whatever comics they have, mostly standalones though since they rarely have multiple comic books in a series available in sequential order.

It's been depressing how many allegedly #leftist#activist accounts I've followed for years have clearly been bought out by #meta to hype up #threads - this is why we can't have nice things...no matter your moral convictions, very few are willing to give up big pay checks to shill crap, especially data harvesting crap.
really, my biggest issue on why, as a #video#creator#activist I don't feel I can abandon every other platform and just use Mastodon and Peertube, is that there is basically NO discoverability on here, and that's necessary if you want to do something as a career. I'm not talking about becoming a sell out--I've been making videos for 15 years and have never once had a sponsor (not that anyone has asked, lol). And I love the self-moderation tools that mastodon has, to an extent. If I was JUST on here to make friends, it's great, there are lots of good people I've started having conversations with... but none that are interested or able to afford to donate on patreon or pay for digital photography, so as always, I'm paying for everything with the money I get either from my dad's social security (he lives with us and says he wants us to use the money in whatever way helps) or what's left of my dead mom's life insurance (which is rapidly running out, lol).
If I was independently wealthy, and could afford to keep doing everything for free just because I care about the issues, I would. I mean that's how I've already been doing it for over a decade. But mastodon alone just isn't cutting it...this place is for building small, intimate friendships, but because of the way searchability works ("works") here, it's like trying to host a dinner in a giant hedge maze. MAYBE you'll stumble into the right pathway to meet that person you've been dreaming of getting to know--but you need to spin down a whole lot of crazy corners to even get a shot at that happening (:
okay my metaphor is falling into threads (lol ew threads...not even once) but the point is that if there was actually a way to build enough of an audience on here to at least afford to pay for the video hosting, editing software subscriptions, etc that i'm currently using my dead mom's money to pay for, then I would be totally content here. But it's not, and I'm tired...
So longtime friend of the Topless Topics community mrich (as we all know him by) and I have been tossing around a #podcast idea for a while (I know, I know...this one will be good though, I promise ;p) and I could use y'alls help in solidifying the concept before we jump in to making it.
While we're still figuring out the structure of the podcast, the idea is to have a few somewhat disparate sections to it - gaming/ #comics / #cosplay /etc, then brief reaction to current #politics / #news (like #feminism , #LGBTQ , #racialJustice , anti- #capitalism , and so much more), and (hopefully) an interview with someone interesting ( #sexWorker , #activist , #artist , etc...whoever we can find that seems like they'd be a good fit for the pod! Then finally, maybe an "ask us anything" advice/reaction section to round out the episode.
I'm thinking we aim for <= 2 hours, one episode per month, but if we really get into it, maybe an episode every other week. I'm still gonna have to edit it and I have a lot else on my plate so I don't want to overextend myself too much. If we happen to stumble into wild success maybe I could hire someone else to do that part in the future, then we could record more often :p
On some subjects, of course I will defer to his expanded first-hand experience, like #racialInequality . And on other subjects, it'll be mostly my turn to step onto the soapbox, namely about what it's like to be a woman in this #misogynist#sexist world. We've chatted for many hours over the years and always gotten along swimmingly, so I don't anticipate undue friction in the longterm (a benefit of having so many like-minded opinions already). But I still think we have enough difference in life experiences to provide an interesting perspective on a variety of topics.

I'll admit it's frustrating that none of my followers on here or Discord use TikTok, so I could convince you to wade into the comments on my videos to break up the tidal waves of rightwing insults and bullshit, lol. Look, if I could, I'd be happy ONLY using platforms that don't cater to misogynists and white nationalists. But as an #activist who would actually love to see some fundamental changes happen in this PoS country, I can't silo myself. To grow enough support to force those changes, we have to enter the "lions den" of mainstream platforms to raise awareness--not only talk to the ten or so users of places like #Mastodon (I kid but it feels like this sometimes, especially talking about anything besides programming and infosec) who already agree with #leftist#progressive ideals.
