BREAKING: NYTIMES - The F.D.A. approved a pill for postpartum depression, a milestone that could increase and improve treatment of a condition afflicting many women. Clinical trial data show the pill works quickly, beginning to ease depression in as little as three days, significantly faster than general antidepressants, which can take two weeks or longer to have an effect. #WomensHealth#PostPartumDepression#Healthcare

@ItsTrainingCatsAndDogs I wish them so much luck. The hatred showered on women from the state and individuals for having bodies w biology. To be blunt medically necessary abortions are why the #MutterMuseum doesn't get new specimens of non-viable pregnancies - why some women are still alive after a spontaneous but partial miscarriage could kill them of sepsis #WomensHealth
U.S. officials have approved the first over-the-counter birth control pill, which will let American women and girls buy contraceptive medication from the same aisle as aspirin and eyedrops.
The AP reports the "FDA’s decision has no relation to the ongoing court battles over the abortion pill mifepristone."
No federal law requires employers to accommodate menopausal symptoms.
Unlike pregnancy, this stage of life that impacts tens of millions of women is not protected under the Americans with Disabilities Act, as U.S. courts have consistently held that menopause is not a disability, even when the symptoms are seriously affecting someone’s ability to do their job.
🗣️Great to see many other people being of service at Rosie’s Place in Boston. A safe haven for LGBTQIA+ women and all in need of their services who self- identify as female.

without community partners, donors and volunteers.
“#FDA has approved blood test that can identify pregnant women who are at imminent risk of developing a severe form of high blood pressure called pre-eclampsia, a leading cause of disability and death among childbearing women.
The condition disproportionately affects Black women in the United States…” #health#WomensHealth
The next time you hear conservatives claim that overturning Roe was a win for the “pro-life” movement, remember that many of these same people wouldn’t lift a finger for universal health care.
"The molar pregnancy Jaci Statton had would never become a baby. It was cancerous, though.
...staff told her and her husband that she could not get a surgical abortion until she became much sicker....
"They said, 'The best we can tell you to do is sit in the parking lot, and if anything else happens, we will be ready to help you. But we cannot touch you unless you are crashing in front of us"

Abortion pills will remain legal in Wyoming after a judge ruled Thursday that the 1st-in-the-nation law to ban them won't take effect July 1 as planned while a lawsuit proceeds.

Patients “are being harmed in significant ways because care is being denied or delayed,” said Daniel Grossman, a professor at UCSF and the lead author of the report. “These laws are having a broader impact beyond people who are seeking abortion because they have an undesired pregnancy.” https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2023/05/16/ucsf-abortion-study/
"After greenlighting an abortion for a patient with a Caesarean scar ectopic pregnancy, one doctor described a situation where other colleagues who were necessary to safely complete the procedure were unwilling to help, saying they did not feel “legally protected.”
How long could blue states last without the divine stewardship of red states? A whole hell of a lot longer than Kevin Sorbo's "career."
Come to think of it, a blue nation with sensible gun control, excellent public schools, bodily autonomy, Ben & Jerry's, and no Kevin Sorbo or Ted Cruz sounds.... AMAZING.
Via @emptywheel: Sam Alito almost killed this woman.
But he's worried that leak of the Dobbs opinion put him at risk.
"2 hospitals that refused to provide emergency #abortion to a pregnant woman experiencing premature labor put her life in jeopardy & violated federal law, a first-of-its-kind investigation by the federal govt has found.
