After somebody ripped a GPS tracker tag off one shark’s dorsal fin, scientists observed an amazing ability: The wound didn’t just heal, but the missing chunk of fin grew back.
Shocking analysis determined that "within 332 days, the shark regenerated enough tissue that his dorsal fin was almost back to 90% of its original size, growing back more than half of what had been cut off in 2022," writes Chelsea Black of University of Miami.
A wildlife filmmaker and biology student appear to have captured the first-known footage of a newborn great white shark. Read about it at Science Alert, and watch video of the moment, among many others, caught by a drone camera off the coast of Santa Barbara, Calif. https://flip.it/uME2nw #Science#Sharks#MarineBiology#GreatWhiteSharks#Ocean
Researchers have developed a new tool to identify a wide range of threatened and protected sharks being processed at fish factories in Indonesia.
The method relies on DNA analysis of “shark dust,” the tiny fragments of skin and cartilage swept from the floors of fish-processing plants and export warehouses.

Well, it was against a pretty bad team (they haven't scored more than 1 goal away from home all season), but I'll take a 3-0 #Bruins win over the #Sharks. Solid, workmanlike effort that got the 2 points.
Well, it wasn't a terrible 1st period for the #Bruins, but it still wasn't great against a weak #Sharks team. Not sure why they are all off kilter these days, to be honest.

Following a viral video showing sharks close to Muizenberg beach, Cape Town’s deputy mayor, Eddie Andrews, assured the public that these bronze whaler sharks pose no risk to beachgoers. The Shark Spotters organization, which offers early shark warnings, observed a decrease in great white sharks in recent years. Although, Andrews still encouraged beachgoers to abide by the…
"Maintaining healthy populations of just nine key wild species (or groups of species) – including elephants and wolves, but also wildebeest, musk ox and bison, as well as marine fish, whales, sharks and sea otters – can play a vital role in controlling the carbon cycle on land and sea."
"The researchers outlined guidelines for governments to provide long-distance larval drifters, like #urchins and #lobsters, as well as #MigratorSpecies, like #turtles and #sharks, with protected stopovers along coastal corridors. "
I think is that #oilers fans are about to find out why Evander Kane was basically fired out of a cannon into the sun by the #Sharks before they got him. #nhl#hnom
