An African country, The #Gambia, has brought the case against #Myanmar in support of the #Rohingya as far back as 2019. Support however, has only come from Western countries and one sole Muslim country, the #Maldives. Some of the fiercest advocates of the Palestinians, such as #Malaysia, have deported and violated the fundamental rights of Rohingya refugees.

Frontex, dass wohl als eine von der EU eigens zur gnadenlosen Bekämpfung von Menschen in Not eingerichtete Agentur bezeichnet werden kann, baut die Überwachung immer weiter aus.

„Am 16. Dezember sind auf dem Mittelmeer 61 Menschen ertrunken. 86 Personen insgesamt waren auf einem Boot von Libyen aus unterwegs nach Europa. Nach Angaben der Internationalen Organisation für Migration (IOM) ist das Boot vor der libyschen Küste durch hohe Wellen zum Kentern gebracht worden. 25 Menschen konnten wohl gerettet werden.
Die Menschen auf dem Boot kamen laut IOM aus Nigeria, Gambia und anderen afrikanischen Ländern. Schon 2022 hatten Ökonomen unter anderem in #Gambia sich zuspitzende Konflikte durch steigende Lebensmittelpreise erwartet. Auch in #Nigeria ist der Lebensstandard extrem niedrig, etwa 70% der Menschen leben unter der Armutsgrenze. Die Wirtschaftsleistung des Landes steigt zwar – unter anderem durch seine Ölvorkommen – immer weiter, jedoch profitieren nur wenige Reiche davon.
