When the toxicity of #Fascist#ChristianNationalism causes strangers to respond to my #Episcopalian belief/praxis with unfettered contempt,
I feel sad & angry that hateful #MAGAts are demolishing an alliance that empowered #Abolition#CivilRights#PeaceNotWar
in times past
I would prefer that strangers unable to see any person of faith as an ally or intelligent, feeling human being just mute me now, ok?
It boggles my mind that #FAUXNEWS is running headlines like this 💔🧠😝
And that #KKKRISTIANS who hated on Harry Potter for being full of witches turn around and gobble numerology #wtaf
This #Episcopalian knows they are part of my Body somehow, but if my eyes don't understand the purpose of my anus, I figger I can be at a loss to describe the function of Evangelicals
@GottaLaff
This #Episcopalian is happy to see my Constitutional right to practice my religion being defended. Fundies & Fascists are all about Freedom for ME & not for THEE.
It still gets me the Bible Jesus is a homeless socialist with brown skin, hangs out with 12 dudes and a Prostitute, tells rich people to pay their taxes and give their wealth to the poor, tells the religious leaders that they need to love everyone equally, gets a whip and goes hog on people using religion to sell stuff, and then straight up gets murdered for these beliefs. Yet somehow churches act like he's some kind of Conservative Haircut in khakis and a button up, who would support cutting welfare programs, and would preach Prosperity Gospel.
Those are ancient fertility symbols associated with the goddess Ostara (Spring). This #Episcopalian finds it way amusing that my highest feast is named after a goddess & all the children run around looking for fertility symbols
😂🐇🥚
"When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let us go now to Bethlehem and see this thing that has taken place, which the Lord has made known to us.” So they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph and the child lying in the manger."
Luke 2:15-16
Taken last night at Saint James Cathedral's Christmas Service at River North, Chicago.
Saint James Cathedral in River North, Chicago, Illinois. This is the Cathedral for the Episcopal Diocese of Chicago. It also happens to be my church. I don't have good photos of the inside at the moment but the interior of the church has gorgeous painted stencil wall images.
This building was one of only about five that partially survived the Great Chicago Fire of 1871. It had been officially dedicated about 2 weeks before the fire. If you look at the top of the steeple, you can see the charred stones.
If you are ever in Chicago, please feel free to visit!
Hitler's rise would've been impossible without a theological underpinning. I've been warning people about this 💩 since the 90's when I was in ( #Episcopalian) seminary
Everyone I talked to told me to relax & quit judging <sigh>

Lets work together and support small business and local artists.
This #Episcopalian thanks you! 💞🕊
I call what's being sold on TV 'The Winter Retail Frenzy' to distinguish it from the Feast of the Incarnation that follows #Advent
The feast lasts 12 days & finishes at #Epiphany
I feel sorry for folks who whip themselves into #capitalist tizzies & then get all postpartum on 12/26
But here in #Tacoma#PNW the holiday lights are a survival strategy for long dark. The more the Better! 🙆🏻♀️🌧☔🎑
@jeffowski
Is this opinion based on socio-anthropological research? Or pure animus?
Honestly, this #Episcopalian doesn't begrudge anybody animus toward religion, given its representatives 😒🤦🏻♀️
But I find it impossible to set aside my lived experience, or my desire for a community focused on seeking Truth & Equity
And I consider #fundamentalism of Every Sort to be the opposite of that, dividing us into US vs THEM, & demonizing/dehumanizing 'them'
‘You Will Be Removed in Jesus’s Name’: Christian Nationalist Megachurch Behind Takeover of California School Board
The Christian nationalist leader of a California megachurch is behind the takeover of a local school district board that has led to Proud Boy appearances and police being called in to keep meetings from turning violent, a report claimed Monday.
A sneak preview of the September/October issue of Texas Observer magazine, featuring stories by Eva Ruth Moravec, Kit @oconnell, Reynaldo Leaños Jr. and @gabrielarana.
The new issue will be arriving in mailboxes, inboxes, and at select newsstands soon.
The CONTINUING #genocidal impact of the #DoctrineOfDiscovery needs to be taught in ALL US #SCHOOLS.
I went to a workshop on how this has screwed up everything in the US at a recent #Episcopalian convention given by an #Indigenous priest.
The fundy #WhiteSupremacy faction will try to bury this deep but we can't move forward until repentance, #reparations & cleansing happen
Me: Oh, liturgical resources for creation & environment, could be useful!
Me,10 minutes later: OMG, what did I just read?!?
I am begging #Episcopalians to just be normal. There is no need to re-write the Creed, the Words of Institution or the Our Father! Making out that #environmentalism is incompatible with orthodox #Christianity is not helping!
I guess I will post my #introduction now that I have moved:
Hi, I'm John! I'm a 30-something trans man. I'm married to my lovely wife, Nicole, and we have two #cats, Bebe and Oscar (both girls). I like #ebikes, #hiking and #art. I use #LinuxMint because I'm a n00b, and I'm an #Episcopalian. My current main fandoms are #Hermitcraft and #TheLockedTomb. I've enjoyed my time on Mastodon so far, and I'm looking forward to more fun!
Hi! I’m Megan (she/they). I’m a classical pianist turned stay-at-home parent with degrees in music, biology, and theology. I’m #episcopalian, and I’ve been doing secular #homeschool since the start of the pandemic.
When #Twitter made sense, I would tweet with #TCMParty a lot with the most well-intentioned, affectionate snark. I love movies, especially musicals.
I’m also a #bisexual who loves a good pun, and I’m a blue dot in #Texas, so send support toots.
Preparing the intercessions / prayers tomorrow for Church. It seems to me that when the #Episcopal Church updates the Book of Common Prayer, there is a real need to expand the prayers and meditations to reflect our grief and our calls around #ClimateChange. #Environmental breakdown stresses not only the physical or geological but also the mental, psychological, and spiritual. Religions have a vital role to play going forward.
I'm also an #Episcopalian and I can confirm that there are many #Christians who are open, loving, and accepting of all people. As we say in the #Episcopal church, all are welcome. Without exception.
People who argue about that #Christianity does not accept LGBTQ people have not read their Bibles closely enough or are so blinded by their politics that they ignore the central teaching of their faith.
"Assembling with collected good will in a semi-mystical atmosphere, followed by assembling in another section of the building, in a coffee-fueled atmosphere" is one of the better descriptions of #Christianity I've heard. It's probably of the best descriptions of #Episcopalian / #Anglicanism / #Anglican / #Episcopal that I've heard.... LOL
Christianity does not have the right to decide for everyone else what is acceptable clothing, social or sexual relationships, culture, beliefs, or lifestyle.
Christianity only has the right to tell their own cult members what to do or not do.
Legislating religious beliefs is unconstitutional, period.
Legislating christian religious beliefs about abortion, lgbtq, women's rights, or anything else is a violation of my 1st amendment right to freedom of religious practice.
It is also a violation of the UN Charter of Human Rights - especially prohibitions against forced pregnancy.
