Her ruling that people like Ed Meese and Michael Mukasey can participate in oral arguments over Jack Smith’s appointment as special prosecutor is outrageous. #Cannon was a republican plant after Donald lost the election. Moscow Mitch and felon Donald quickly installed her after he lost the election.
Cannon, who abused her discretion previously in favor of Trump, should recuse herself from the Trump case. If she doesn't, #DoJ should file a motion to recuse. This issue is too important to ignore and hope for the best.
Cannon has been slow walking the case for a year. Although most motions were filed months ago, the judge has yet to rule on them, raising an outcry from critics who assert that she is accommodating the defense in a bid to prevent a trial.

Clearly, Judge Cannon doesn’t seem to be worried about the safety of the law enforcement officers that have targets on their backs courtesy of Donald Trump’s spreading of lies about the MAL search warrant.

@GottaLaff, there's a good article in this morning's The Guardian about how the Right has a weird "mirror" reality (I'd say a DISTORTED mirror) in which they truly believe that Biden is an autocrat and is using the DOJ to get his enemies. I also think Cannon, Alito, and Thomas believe in this "mirror" reality and that's why this stuff keeps happening.

I think the interest is in comparing the CFPB's funding mechanism with the special counsel's. CFPB is funded directly by the federal reserve rather than appropriations; this mostly prevents congress from using it as a political football. Similarly, the special counsel is funded independently of appropriations. Once again cannon is exceeding her brief chasing down issues that do not exist and is auditioning for appointment to higher court, smiling at each month ticking by.

We had a starker example back in Nov 2023. Trump asked Cannon to put off the SDFla trial because of the DC trial date, while failing to tell her that, later that same evening, he was filing a motion in DC to stay the DC case entirely. Govt brought it to her attn.
In response, Cannon not only ignored defense's sharp practice, but warned govt that she wd strike its future notices if it failed to comply w a purported 200-word limit imposed by Local Rules. The govt’s notice had used 217 words.
Once again, I urge any reputable #journalist to do a deep #dive into the life of Aileen #Cannon, not just the recent revelation that she accepted "gifts", but all the way back to he life in Colombia. There are #discrepancies. Where did money come from. There is also a discrepancy about her mother's reported asylum from Cuba. How did a 15 yo, a sister & mom get money & VISAs to relocate to the US? Who paid for all her expensive education? How did she buy a house in Michigan AND Florida?
