"Using shields, batons and flashbang explosives, Calgary police officers forcibly removed a group of protesters Thursday night from an encampment set up on the University of Calgary campus."
"If there was any doubt remaining that Alberta's nearly seven-month moratorium on renewable-energy projects was a political decision — made in the halls of power rather than in the offices of expertise — it was erased by internal documents released to the public last week."
My latest analysis for CBC, based on original reporting by @drewanderson for @thenarwhal
"Alberta’s largest power generator has cancelled one proposed wind farm and put three other developments on hold, citing provincial rule changes to renewable developments and uncertainty around broader electricity market reforms."
"'This announcement is politically motivated and not based in fact or clinical guidelines,' one council member wrote in a Feb. 2 email to two named AHS officials and other recipients..."
Calgary city councillor Dan McLean on proposed legislation that would allow the provincial government to repeal city bylaws and remove councillors from office:
“They always say the municipalities are like the children of the province, and sometimes parents have to spank their kids."
Calgarians' submissions to city council on the blanket-rezoning proposal have been published and more than a few folks seem to think this is the work of the World Economic Forum...
Example #1: "This city is now run by a mayor and councillors who are simply disgusting demons following WEF agenda"
"Documents released under Alberta Freedom of Information laws confirm the United Conservative government was talking with the coal industry for years about relaxing a policy that protected the Rocky Mountains from open-pit mines.
The documents also show the province was talking about opening those landscapes to more development generally for at least seven months before letting the public in on its plans."
I doubt it will but I sincerely hope this post somehow reaches Rudy Bruce, who was interviewed by CTV at the carbon-tax protest west of Calgary on Monday.
He (somewhat incredibly) admitted he hasn't done his taxes for the past seven years because he owes the government $4,000.
As a result, he hasn't received his carbon-tax rebates.
I hope he know those rebates can be claimed retroactively, and are worth $3,145, which would settle the majority of his tax debt.
"Justice Kent Teskey warned the province that courts take a dim view of delay being used to neuter public attempts to understand how important decisions are made.
'The requesting parties have been practically denied access to the information they are entitled to at law and this court will not abet this conduct through the availability of judicial review,' he wrote in a judgment released Friday."
As of last week, anyone in Calgary wanting an adult vaccination through AHS has to go to the Sheldon Chumir in the Beltline - no more convenient community clinics. This was apparently done to “improve access.” I just called about an MMR vaccine. First appointment is over 3 weeks away. The change is a failure on two fronts. #ABHealth#ABLeg
Does anyone think it's a good idea to give Alberta more control of immigration?
Taken straight from the Texas playbook, under the guise of bringing in more "skilled" workers from Ukraine, Smith and the UCP signal to their base they will move to take more control over provincial immigration.
"Skilled workers" is coded language for racism, by the way. And it's used by all parties.
At Nenshi's rally-not-a-rally in #yeg on Wednesday night, he hinted to "including folks who want to invest in the [healthcare] system." A clear implication that he's open to privatization of aspects of our healthcare system.
