Did Justice #ClarenceThomas pay income tax for what he received?
I'm pretty sure that if I or most anyone else receiving those things, we'd be required to disclose them to the IRS and pay tax on the income. (Similarly, if I received gifts like that and didn't disclose them to my employer, I'd be fired for conflict of interest and corruption. In his case, his employer is the same federal government that the IRS is part of.)

I don't think anything Thomas did can, at the present time, be tied to imputed income. He would have had to have been 'employed' in some manner by the giver. To admit that, on Thomas' part, would admit to being outright bought, so that won't happen. All these could be considered gifts, and virtually all would exceed the annual giving maximum, so the GIVER would owe taxes on those, and in some cases if the giver did not pay, then the receiver.
I think, with Thomas, this all boils down to ethics, and on that alone, he no longer holds a seat legitimately. I'll be interested in seeing if they can tag him with an outright illegality. But they should, if they can.
I grok what you're getting at. I just wonder if the IRS rules fully cover that. The only time I saw imputed income be accounted for was when it was from the company I was formally employed by. Gifts received by Thomas either need the tax paid by the donor, or else Thomas needs to pay it, so both donor and Thomas' tax returns are at question. As far as court disclosure laws? Well, we all know what would have been moral in that case. The question is, is the regulation strong enough to hold him to that moral standard.
In my book breaking the moral, by itself, is enough to trigger Thomas' removal from the Court. We can be neither judged, nor ruled by someone who would not submit themselves to the same standards we ourselves are expected to follow.
To allow Thomas to remain is to prostitute the very standard he claims to enforce. That's a crime, in the book of humanity.

@skykiss Because there are very few legal restrictions on the powers of the Supreme Court unless there is at least 2/3 of Congress willing to impeach them.
@skykiss because there's effectively no way to enforce conflict-of-interest violations against SCOTUS justices, even if they had a real code of conduct, which they don't. Another way to explain it is that a major political party has been coordinating an administrative coup for decades, and will happily break any laws if they can get away with it; part of that coup includes a majority of SCOTUS, including the Chief Justice.
Yes, it's absolutely absurd. They don't care. Their citizen followers don't care either, or are oblivious to what's happening. As a party, they only believe in democracy if it goes their way-- in other words, they don't believe in democracy. :(
