Ich habe seit gestern die #Android App #StreetComplete und kann damit sehr einfach Karten bearbeiten mittels simplen Fragen.
(iOS-Alternative wäre Go Map!! und dort die Quests aktivieren)
Alles was man dazu braucht ist ein Account auf openstreetmap.org
Bei Google Maps braucht man schließlich auch einen Google Account.
Der Unterschied besteht darin, das hier alle Apps davon profitieren, die auf #OpenStreetMaps zurückgreifen, dazu gehören unter anderem:

Wo ich wohne ist alles Einfache schon ausgefüllt, da fragt es jetzt nach der Breite der Fahrbahnen, wo ich nicht weiß, wie ich das ohne Maßband feststellen soll, aber im Urlaub hab ich es auch mal ausgepackt und dann so nette Sachen wie die genaue Adresse von unserem Hotel oder die Öffnungszeiten vom Lokal nebenan eingetragen 😄
@42GB I think you're asking the most fundamental of questions. Why are we here? What is our purpose? What is the meaning of life? And whatever the answer to that is for you or for me, I'm pretty sure it also applies to being happy during a mass extinction event. 🤷
(We know that the answer to Life, the Universe and Everything will still be 42 when Earth is long gone and the sun has burned out. That's something at least.)

Da wird der Durchschnittsseptember von 1991-2020 mit dem jetzt verglichen, und dann noch mit dem Maximalwert in der Messgeschichte, pro Landeshauptstadt. 📊
Es sind sehr viel mehr Sommertage in diesem September. Doppelt oder drei Mal so viele. In 7 von 9 Städten erreicht oder übertrifft der September 2023 den alten Maximalwert.
1991-2020 ist ja nicht irgendwann von hunderten Jahren. Da war ich schon dabei und kann mich erinnern. "Damals" war's auch manchmal für ein paar Tage sommerlich heiß im September, ja. Aber halt nicht so. 🔥

I love the covid-aware community, but goddamn if I am not bored to tears from hearing about how few people y'all saw wearing masks at the grocery store.

@pixplz@Njord That's true. Yes. Nobody is being convinced. Nothing is improving at all.
I'm just very disillusioned. We had mandatory masks for a while here, with theoretically even impressive fees, and I remember very well how that went. Also I know that 100% of political parties in parliament, plus all the bodies responsible for e.g. medical care and hospitals here want to ignore Covid. It's not about campaigning to give more weight to one group as opposed to the other when there's no group. Nobody wants to get involved with anything. There's individual doctor's offices that mask, but they don't even want to advertise that.
I'd love to do more for clean air. I started with our school and kindergarten. Originally I had the naive idea of getting the other parents who care together. Turns out, there aren't any. It's a collective action of one. It's me. (Occasionally there's a grandparent with a mask picking up a kid, but they don't want anything to do with anything else.)
I wear a mask, yes, but not as a statement, that's just a side effect. I talk to the teachers about the air in the classroom. They open windows. I check if the windows are open in the morning. I tell everybody how important clean air is. Because of cultural reasons there's a widespread belief that cold air and drafts cause disease (you catch a "cold"), so people do not want open windows in classrooms. Air cleaning machines are very suspicious and dangerous (the filters will spread disease!), whereas getting a bit sick all the time is no problem at all. So right now my campaign is stuck at the educational stage, telling everybody who listens how much I enjoy not being sick and how great clean air would be. Comparing it to water. Explaining air filters. I'm tired of it. It's not helping.
Stronger climate policies have a larger part of the population and even of the political establishment behind them. Not enough, not by far, but climate change is coming while Covid is over, haven't you heard.
Btw, I strongly believe that we have to do both, individual small actions and the large collective revolution. Don't stop biking because fossil fuels are still subsidised. Keep meeting outside, wearing masks, opening windows, and explaining airborne pathogens, even in the face of ignorance and political evil.

@pvonhellermannn Es geht so vielen so... es ist so irritierend und verwirrend. Und richtig fühlbar. Das geht am Großhirn vorbei, irgendwo weiter unten auf eine andere Wahrnehmungsebene. Kann dadurch auch nicht so gut wegargumentiert werden.
Ich muss wieder einmal schauen, ob es inzwischen bessere Toolunterstützung für #hashtags gibt. Ich rate und probiere, und das kann's ja nicht sein. 🤷

It's about mental health. Being able to fix your gadgets is therapeutic. Empowering. Good for the soul.
In a world full of complex technology it's easy to feel small and helpless. And maybe I'm too much of an idealist, but I think that if everyone could experience the joy of fixing or modifying a gadget now and then we'd all be a little more open minded, a little more daring. A little harder to push around.

For someone raised in a consumer society where it is supposedly always cheaper, faster, easier to just buy a new one, it's a totally new feeling of empowerment. Each fixed thing is a story to tell, and a memory that will make the next one a bit more probable. 🔧🪛

Intensivpatienten sind nämlich definitiv eine Hochrisikogruppe.
Widerstand gegen ihren "Alleingang" war groß. Haupteinwand der Pflegedirektorin: Wer zahlt die an Besucher ausgehändigten FFP2-Masken?

Ich weiß ja nicht, was so eine Behandlung auf der Intensivstation kostet, aber ich bin mir ziemlich sicher, dass die FFP-Masken als Rundungsfehler durchgehen.
@Mina Kein Kunstschnee mehr würde dazu führen, dass die, die ihn für ihr Geschäftsmodell brauchen, sich jetzt gleich etwas überlegen müssten, und nicht darauf hoffen können, dass es eh noch ein paar Jahrzehnte so weitergehen kann. 🤔 Kann ich nichts finden, was dagegen spricht. 🤷
Schitourismus ist in Österreich heilig. Das wird das allerletzte sein, was wegfällt. Davor haben wir schon keine Landwirtschaft, medizinische Versorgung oder Bildungsinstitutionen mehr; aber die Schipisten bleiben sicher.
@mandelbrot57 Das allerschlimmste am Schitourismus in den österreichischen Alpen ist aber diese (reale oder eingebildete) völlige wirtschaftliche Abhängigkeit ganzer Regionen davon. Tourismus hat immer und überall heftige Auswirkungen, weil das vermeintlich einfach verdiente Geld so verlockend ist, aber in der Stadt können wir uns andere Sachen zumindest auch noch vorstellen. Als Alternative bei kürzeren Wintern mit weniger Schnee gibt's aber meistens nur eine Vision vom Sommertourismus in den Bergen, der in etwa Schiurlaub ohne Schifahren entspricht. Trotzdem Lift fahren und Party und Wellnesshotels.
@heiseonline Bin ja gespannt, wie das weitergeht. Wir brauchen zum Glück kein Auto, also auch kein #eauto. Sonst bleibt halt nicht viel übrig als "Großverbraucher". 🤔
Hat jemand so einen #Geschirrspüler /#Spülmaschine? Hab letztens überlegt, so etwas Ähnliches in #openhab nachzubauen, weil wir das jetzt (Psychologische Effekte! Jaja!) schon manuell machen. #Waschmaschine kommt nicht in Frage, weil die Wäsche bald nach dem Ende herausgenommen werden muss (und nein, "Trockner" geht gar nicht).
Die #wärmepumpe langweilt sich noch. Da bin ich gespannt, ob wir in der dunklen Jahreszeit überhaupt irgendwas optimieren können werden.
Kochen/Backen kann auch ein paar kWh verbrauchen. Das geht zeitversetzt eigentlich durchaus ganz gut, aber ich will die Speisen wahrscheinlich vor dem Verzehr trotzdem wieder aufwärmen? 🤔
@msquebanh Huge for cherry! 😆 Ours usually got quite a lot bigger than cherries too. This year was no tomato year. The cherries this year are like haselnuts or even peas! 😄

She really was our foreign minister and really invited Putin to her wedding, and he really came and they danced, and, and, and, well, now she's moved to Russia and this week's news was that her ponies were flown in on military aircraft. I wrote about our plans for a #summer#vacation to #Greece without airtravel a while ago. I'd said I wanted to put my money and effort where my mouth is.
Now I wanted to add a follow-up, but the original post is already gone. My fault for setting auto-deletion to 3 months.
Two adults and two children travelled from #Vienna 🇦🇹 to #Corfu 🇬🇷 and back via #Italy 🇮🇹 , with some sightseeing in #Ancona, Corfu Town, #Brindisi, and #Rome without using any cars or airplanes. I had bought additional travel insurance for missed connections, but we didn't need that.
Itinerary: Tram, #Nightjet sleeper, bus, #ferry, bus, bus, (hotel stay with occasional outings by bus), bus, bus, ferry, shuttle bus, bus, (hotel), #Frecciargento train, (hotel, metro and bus for #sightseeing), #Frecciarossa train, Nightjet sleeper, metro. (Busses means regular public transit busses on numbered lines that the locals also take.)
Every single vehicle everywhere had working air condition. They were clean and on time, and all the longer trips had tasty food. There's power outlets everywhere. The Frecciarossa (red arrow) between Rome and #Bologna only got to 250 km/h, not the 300 we were hoping to see, but that was the only slightest disappointment.
The ferries are not at all climate-friendly. I have not found a number for how much #CO² for a crossing, but they are similar to cruise ships. The trips are far shorter than cruises of course, but we see and smell the black smoke from the stacks. It's wrong to feel smug about taking a ferry instead of an airplane. All the busses had #combustion engines. All the trains/metros/trams were #electric, so that depends on the grid. The Austrian ÖBB prides itself on using only "green" #electricity.
We enjoyed the trip very much. I am unsure about any future travel. I would totally do this again in terms of comfort and experiences. But my goals for how much I hope to not pollute and damage the world for my pleasure have changed. I have no answers right now.
