Fascinating to hear the GOP Speaker of the House admit to having private conversations with multiple justices who expressed concern to him about Trump’s conviction. I’m sure those justices will recuse from any eventual appeal to avoid sitting on a case they’ve pre-judged.

I can't stress enough that the USA deserves a president capable of absorbing information that has been presented carefully and clearly to a jury. (Lawyers and judges know they have to address jurors in terms they will understand.) Let's face it, a real president gets much more complicated and lengthy briefings on critical matters.

The United States may have never held a presidential election in which the voting public was so badly misinformed. We can blame biased news media, scammers on social media, foreign interference, and politicians who intentionally mislead us. But ultimately, voters must learn to separate fact from falsehood.

The bald eagle could have easily gone extinct. But we did all sorts of "woke" things protecting it legally, ran conservation and study programs, banned DDT (that was good for other reasons too) and in 2007 they were removed from the endangered species list.

Likewise pine forests could be dead from acid rain.

The ozone could have a huge hole.

We CAN take care of nature when we want to. And the successes have been worth it.

I feel like we forget this, you know?

I came across someone saying they were proud of all the protesting they did when they were younger and that’s fine.

When people say things like "The right falls in line"
"The right worked hard to change the supreme court" etc.

I think the purpose is to inspire the surly youths to engage in electioneering with more joy & enthusiasm. But you're just legitimizing efforts that were often undemocratic.

It's like bootstrap theory but for the overton window. Just work harder and you can move it!

We will need to work hard, but I prefer pragmatism about the asymmetry of this game.

I think the asymmetry is a key characteristic. They can win with a smaller coalition. We have to bring together people who are not terribly comfortable together. We have to organize and build bridges.
I'd like to hear more about what you consider to be a pragmatic approach. You have a lot of good ideas.

@IveyJanette The entire treason lasted under 4 years. It would be so easy to promote state heritage. It would include everyone, and suggest no one need be enslaved. Why "Confederate Heritage"?
Edit (Actually clicked on the article. He's continuing a tradition of honoring “all who lost their lives in this war.” traitors who died waging war against the US Army and US dead, I think. Good to know.)
