My understanding is that it's worth watching the #SuperbOwl for the half time show, where Taylor Swift's plane will land on the pitch. She will then emerge, declare herself to be a lesbian communist pregnant with a child who will be the reincarnation of Karl Marx, then declare her eternal loyalty to First Commissar Biden and begin the executions of the Trumpite revisionists. Then everyone will go back to watching slow-motion rugby.
Last one for #SuperbOwl Sunday. Owls (and other Arctic Predators, avian and mammal) use rises and hummocks to scan for prey, using the same spots year after year. Their waste and remains of prey fertilize the spot and the plants grow taller there than the surrounding tundra. Here a juvenile Snowy peers at me from such a spot. #Nunavut#Arctic#WildlifePhotography#Birding
Two fledgling Barred Owls (Strix varia) snuggling together on a branch. A video at the end of the linked post shows the "melodic" song they emit when begging mom to come back for a food delivery.
For the fourth time in five years, the Kansas City Chiefs are playing in the Super Bowl. It’s a welcome thought for the team’s legion of fans. But for Indigenous activists, the Chiefs’ use of Native American imagery and references “tells Native kids that the rest of society, the only thing they ever care to know about you and your culture are these mocking minstrel shows.” AP has more: https://flip.it/IMAx3P #SuperBowl#USA#Indigenous#TribalRights#KansasCityChiefs
The last #SuperbOwl for this year is a Barred Owl I managed to photograph in a neighbors yard. The crows were nice enough to alert me that it was sitting there. This one is for @pwc
