If you're on Reddit still, and you #SoloRPG I'd love to see your answer.
Also, OMG some of the ways people do this sounds ... so painful. Like OMG WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT TO YOURSELF, but it just goes to show how different our 🧠s are.
Continuing to replace the AI-generated images in my game now that I understand how problematic it is.
It's turning out to be making my game better. Below is a comparison between the AI image I'd generated (on the left) for a snowy outpost and what I drew (on the right).
The AI version is evocative enough, I suppose, but it's obviously AI generated. And the image on the right is MUCH closer to what I envisioned for the scene (despite my art skills). I like mine better.
How was your weekend? I love a rainy weekend in the Pacific Northwest corner of America, as it relieves my guilt of doing what I want to do ... staying inside. I read a little, wrote a little, hacked a little ... even played a classic #videogame from the 90s (Curse of Monkey Island on #ScummVM).
I also did a little math. Yeah, been thinking of taking the "Yes, and.." dice mechanics used for luck rolls in #rpg games (not sure who came up with it first), and fusing it with Mythic GM Emulator's Fate Chart, popular with the #solorpg crowd. Since I'm always playing with my notes written in #emacs on the screen, I hacked it in #lisp. Shared the details in case anyone wanted to do something similar in their favorite programming language.
"Why We Fight is a solo+ narrative TTRPG where you play a crew of eco-punks fighting fascism to build a brighter, greener future."
"(...) help struggling refugees and the havens they’ve made, and build a thriving, self-sustaining solar-punk community, all while pushing back against a force that seeks to blame the powerless (...)"
O.M.G.Squeee! I just stumbled across this amazing video by Howard Abrams about "Crafting Ironsworn in Emacs" which discusses how he's integrated all the moves, tables, and mechanics of Ironsworn into Emacs, allowing him to easily play solo Ironsworn games.
THEN he went and genericised the system to play other games.
Regardless of how you feel about #emacs you should check this out. Every solo playable game should have a tool this awesome.
Why are you playing #solorpg systems? #ttrpgs are living off their social interaction and emergent storytelling, which is not-existent or strongly diminished when playing solo. Which system do you play and what makes them work for you? #rpg#pnpde#pnp
Did some sketch painting tonight. It's prep for a Solo RPG called Apothecaria. Decided to paint the little cottage my Witch is gonna inherit.
I think it's done, gonna let it fully dry, then maybe go in with some shadows but we'll see. Don't wanna over-work it. The point is to be a quick sketch.
So I'm interested in trying to find something I can use as counters for #SoloRPG purposes.
I'd particularly like to find some flat disks, roughly about 2cm across, that I could glue paper to. I got some printable sheets with counter designs and they're about that size at the smallest, so that would be ideal.
I imagine there must be some #boardgame pieces I could seek out, preferably cheap ones, but no luck finding any so far.
Anyone with any clue where I could look? #Craft stores maybe?
It’s been a while since I inked any of my fountain pens, but picked up some Bungubox Ink of Witch recently on a whim. Feels perfect for a new solo narrative RPG that arrived recently. Looking forward to trying it out. #FountainPens#TTRPG#SoloRPG
Another mini-session of #RUNErpg and an eventful run, I think. After multiple deaths trying to get back to the Necromancer fight that killed me last time, I finally managed to get there, killing the Necromancer himself handily. Never laid a glove on me!
His skeletons though, they made a lot more contact, and although I finished off two of them the third had the luck of the dice and I went down, down, down!
The Lost Knight, who I fought nearby, was a much easier foe, only grazing me. #solorpg
Printed out one of the cards I mentioned yesterday in the little heartbreaker #rpg#solorpg#miniatures game I am working on. Took a few iterations but I think it has an approachable layout now. Was worried the text would be too small but it’s okay. (And it will be PNP so people who want to print it larger can.)
The frame elements are derived from a layout resource offered by penflower ink - you can find it on itch.
Happy new year!! 🥳
I hope everybody had an amazing time!
I want to kick things off this year by posting my favorite #art of my solo RPG, Dungeons of Galora!
Thanks everyone who took an interest in my work, reacted to it, and shared their thoughts here in dicecamp! it meant a lot to me!
Now on to more #ttrpg stuff! @rpg@RPG@ttrpgs#soloRPG
Does anyone know of any reviews or play through blogs/videos for Doppelgänger Publishing games like “5’ Into Space”, “The Wandering Knight” or the Daydreamer games? I would like to take one for a spin but I have trouble parsing rulebooks on my own, even simple ones. Any advice that people familiar with them can give would be appreciated!
My #soloRPG#rule0 “Resist the TRAP of too many tools!” Instead I build a minimal kit of essentials + some odds. I like to include something fun and assign it for specific functions and mechanics (it should always be 1. Faster & 2. Fun. Unique dice can really spark up some good soloin’ lickity split! Trap dice for instance! What “unique” tools live in your #solokit? https://www.etsy.com/listing/697341334/
Notorious by Jason Price (https://alwayscheckers.itch.io/notorious) is a sci-fi #soloRPG where you are a bounty hunter in a setting that is lovingly reminiscent of #StarWars. I picked this up on a whim while browsing the "solo RPG" tag on itch, and I'm glad I did! There's quite a bit of flipping around the rulebook, so I'm looking forward to getting the physical, spiral-bound edition. 1/
Introduction post now that I'm on a server that fits me better.
I'm a Gen-X Southwest-Louisiana-born Cajun living in South-Central Kansas. I have an amazing wife and two children (all of us Autistic). My education is in Physics/Astronomy though I'm currently looking into moving to Philosophy for the future.
My interests tend to be varied, deeply researched, and cyclical. Some of them are listed in the hashtags below.
Currently, I am a very left Communist in politics though I am never married to an ideology. Nothing I've researched so far includes as much of my morality and ethics but Capitalism is plainly evil. In religion/spirituality, I am a firm (though not fundamentalist) agnostic atheist.
I had my first personal computer in 1991 and was forever tech-focused since that time. Soon after, I was introduced to Linux through Slackware and have been an on-again off-again user of it. I am in the Information-should-be-free camp. The Hacker Manifesto by The Mentor has always been my life.
Above all of that, I am a voracious reader with not enough time to read it all.
With all of that said, I am not a "content creator" (really dislike that new phrase)! I am just an individual that occasionally posts about interests. So, unfortunately, if you gravitate towards that, you should probably look elsewhere.
quick #introduction here on #mastodon !
I'm working on a #soloRPG with its own setting. it tells the story of people rediscovering their heritage through a fast-paced dungeon-crawling-focused gameplay. Ah! worth mentioning the intention to stick to a very vintage-like #art direction, slightly inspired by Russ Nicholson. #ttrpg@ttrpg@rpg@RPG@rpg@ttrpgs
