After being busy and not managing to get time at my paint desk, today I painted up an Ent model, really quick easy to paint, but the result is really nice.
Played some Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game. My Hobbits took on the Ruffians in the Scouring of the Shire campaign. At this point in the campaign, it's pretty even between the two sides.
Today, March 25, the One Ring is destroyed in the fires of Mt. Doom.
"The fourteenth of the New Year," said Gandalf; "or if you like, the eighth day of April in the Shire-reckoning. But in Gondor the New Year will always now begin upon the twenty-fifth of March when Sauron fell"
Regenerating my #introduction post on the new instance:
My name is Mike (a.k.a. "shellsharks”) - I am a security researcher, #IndieWeb advocate, all-things #Fediverse convert and all around #tech enthusiast.
I must have penned 100 of these by now as I move around the fediverse week to week and sometimes day to day. Anyway here it goes again...
I'm a #Nintendo fangirl. My first console was the #NES and I've been in love ever since. The #N64 being my favorite console of all time with games like Goldeneye, Mario 64, and #Zelda Ocarina of Time being some of the best games ever made. I know most people had a PlayStation then, but I was always a Nintendo girl.
I watch #horror#movies consistently, and sometimes it feels like I've seen the entire genre. Out of nowhere someone will recommend me a film I hadn't seen, and I'll love it. Routinely makes the genre surprise me in a good way. It's gotten to the point that if it's not a horror film I probably won't watch it.
I like to read, and again, with a slant to horror. #StephenKing being my favorite author ever since I read The Shining as a young teen. #Fantasy, especially #Tolkien, is another fixation. I did see the #LotR movies before I read the books, so I'm probably not as cool as you.
If you don't love #birds we probably can't be friends. I've been bird obsessed for going on 6 years now. Ever since a house sparrow couple decided to nest in my garage I've become a bird nerd. Honestly I don't think it would be possible for me to love anything more than our feathered friends, and it shatters my heart every time I read about #climatechange decimating bird populations. Birds are better than people, full stop.
#Retrocomputing and #nostalgia are another side hobby. Content around the retrotechisphere is certainly in my orbit. I grew up with i386 processors and 9600baud modems in my veins. I would hangout in chatrooms on #BBS servers until 2am (my mom HATED it).
That's basically me minus all the neurodivergency causing disasters in my life, but I'm not here to trauma dump. As long as I have an #Android phone and a Nintendo console I'll be happy.
#TIL Tom Baker was offered the role of Gandalf in Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings, but chose instead to be in the famously bad 2000 movie Dungeons and Dragons, so he could spend a few days filming in Prague instead of more than a year filming in Aotearoa; https://www.movieoubliette.com/e/dungeons-and-dragons-with-michael-french/
Another test #sketch of Gandalf. Still not decided which way I'm going to draw him for this art challenge. Probably this way. (Ignore the speech balloon — just thought it was funny at the time)
