TL;DR: The Wikimedia Foundation is urging the US Supreme Court to strike down laws in Texas and Florida that threaten Wikipedia's community-led governance model and freedom of expression.
After the announcing new repressions, reduction of retirement funds for all the population, layouts of hundreds from several institutions including, national airline company and disabilities agency, the autocrat #Milei just started closing press organizations and censoring journalists. The buildings are getting militarized.
Earlier today I posted the link about the update of Fediverse software blog article on Twitter (sorry, X).
Interestingly, the views are extremely low, with almost no interaction, and a 'like' I received isn't showing up in my notifications.
It might be a coincidence, but it seems like freedom of speech ends when you talk about alternatives to the platform.
‘There is a great irony in attempts by this self-proclaimed “free speech absolutist” – to shut down honest debate and fair, research-backed criticism with legal threats.’
So, quite a lot going on in Denmark and Sweden these days, with a geopolitical crisis looming, following right wing activists' burning of the #Quran on several occasions previous weeks.
Now, DK Govt. is seeking legal ways to limit burning of religious texts. "#FreedomOfSpeech being limited", people object.
Which, sure, it is.
But it's already illegal here to burn flags and national symbols of foreign states already. So how's this different? Genuinely curious.
This is what constitutes his office being "stormed" for Paul Sweeney, Labour MSP. A lady and a gentleman with placards.
Police Scotland later dismissed his fictitious claims.
On such slim threads are our police resources being wasted and our democracy being undermined, by our own politicians.

The Swedish prime minister Ulf Kristersson made a similar twist to reality a while ago, when there were some protesters and hecklers at a public meeting he held. He blew it up as a major threat to democracy, that some people spoke up against his politics. ❄️ #UlfKristersson #svpol #Sweden #FreedomOfSpeech
A French draft law, passed Monday, would let citizens vote in local elections after 10 years' residency in New Caledonia, prompting opposition from independence activists worried it will dilute the representation of indigenous people. The violent demonstrations that have ensued in the South Pacific island of 270,000 have killed at least five people and injured hundreds.
In response to the protests, the government suspended the popular video-sharing app — owned by Beijing-based ByteDance and favored by young people — as part of state-of-emergency measures alongside the deployment of troops and an initial 12-day curfew.
French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal didn’t detail the reasons for shutting down the platform. The local telecom regulator began blocking the app earlier on Wednesday."

I try not to be a petty person but today I can't help it. My former dean who was a DeSantis sycophant and agreed to let our campus be the example that there would be no adopting COVID protocols for safety. She was handsomely rewarded by DeSantis. FOr some reason...Barnard College hired her to be President. As I told the NYT reporter, just watch her for six months. 1/2
Every single Columbia person who agreed to this should be ashamed & leave education, as they're clearly unfit for any campus or the welfare of the students they are responsible for
