I'm confused and speechless. Tried to run updates on my #Windows11 machine, a lot of them threw errors. Ran the Windows Update troubleshooter.
In the five minutes the troubleshooter was open, this laptop I've had for just over eight months but that I haven't used all that extensively went from full battery to 5%. And the troubleshooter seemed to not be doing anything. #Windows#Laptop#Tech#Technology#Update#WTF
Every year or so, I try using #obsidian for #notetaking and such, but after a day, I always come back to #orgmode . There are just way too many extras you get being in #emacs#evil and org mode.
@dekkzz76@sergio_101 I find it more difficult to get people to even squint at at #emacs these days when #vscode is so approachable and is working so well for many people. Prior to this, people on #windows were using Notepad++ (or even just notepad.exe!)
Is there an affordable way to sign installers for Windows for an open source project?
The code signing certificates I've seen all cost significantly more than the rate of donations to my project, but the friction unsigned installers cause is significant for the users.
Microsoft integriert KI-Kopiloten in Windows
Die Tech-Branche ist derzeit im Bann generativer künstlicher Intelligenz. Windows bzw Microsoft stellt jetzt einen KI-Kopiloten vor.
It sucks rancid jackals' balls that #JAWS and #NVDA are only available on #Windows.
I'd like to test my website with the most prevalent #ScreenReaders to make sure it's accessible, but I don't want to do it on my company-issued laptop, which is the only PC running Windows I have in my household (and I intend to keep it that way, because fuck Microsoft).
So I test with #Orca on #Linux and #VoiceOver on #macOS. I also use the #WAVE plugin for #Firefox. This is more than a lot of personal website operators and bloggers do, I suspect.
There's not much I wish #MacOS could learn from #Windows, but one thing is definitely the ability to quickly identify and press keyboard keys to take actions on simple modals.
Yet another step in the never-ending saga of getting #UnrealEngine version 5.anything to run without crashing or leaving AI characters standing like statues or not bothering to spawn a dozen characters or not displaying water or whatever else the developers have bundled for our development pleasure, I deleted everything in AppData for 5.2. I saw an error in the logs that should not occur with a Launcher version.
#Microsoft looks like it's going to be building it's tool called #Windows#Copilot directly into their OS. They're also including a Copilot in Office and Edge. Basically all Microsoft products will have a built in "assistant". If you're concerned about AI having access to your data, it's going to be much more difficult to avoid in the near future. Adding to the concern is this is black box AI. It's not open. We have no idea what's going on inside that digital head.
