People can be as upset about this as they want, but so long as they continue to watch #YouTube they continue tacitly supporting their user-hostile actions. If you really want to make a difference, stop watching, and tell content creators why. When you can convince them to move to platforms that don't shove ads down your throat every 3 minutes, THAT is when you'll see #Google change their tune.
@tilvids If you really want to see less #YouTube usage then develop a #Kodi addon that supports #PeerTube or #tilvids or whatever other service you consider a replacement. Because I watch most videos on my TV, not my computer, using Kodi.
Oh, and do what you need to in order to get your addon accepted into the official Kodi addon repository. I don't get addons from janky third-party sites.
Oh, you don't know how to make a Kodi addon? Well neither do I. Or maybe you think there's not enough people like me to try making an alternative addon? Sorry about that, I guess YouTube is my only choice then.
All you folks who think that YouTube videos are only viewed on phones need to wake up. There are many other ways to watch online videos and virtually all of them support YouTube. When they support a viable alternative, maybe folks will switch to that, or at least reduce their use of YouTube.

Point of clarification: We will federate with others, but only if they strictly align with our goal of quality edutainment. @vkc is the first example, great content edutainment content creator that started on #tilvids but was then ready to start their own instance. We were happy to federate and have their content show up on our instance.
What we DON'T do is blanket federate with everyone for, as you stated, good reason. Too many bad-faith "creators" out there.

It's truly amazing to watch how #tilvids has taken off almost 100% due to the #Mastodon community. We're currently sitting at #10 position on PeerTube's instance list for user count, which has jumped dozens of spots over the last year. 💙

Good thread by @FediFollows on some interesting #peertube accounts to follow. I recently discovered via @tilvids that there is an app for watching peertube on Android, I'm trying out @newpipe . There is a helpful video on #tilvids that shows how to install and set:up for peertube instances.

Hey lovely folks over at @tilvids, now that we have an account, it would be really dope if we could get an upload quota so we can start uploading our videos and provide users an alternative to YouTube. Being able to have PeerTube embeds instead of YouTube on our blog posts would also be a good move for privacy conscious individuals!
