Vacation day birding with warblers, tanagers, and more spring migrators was a fun escape into nature with my husband. I love how the peek of cloudy sky behind this Indigo Bunting creates a full moon effect.
So Spring has sprung, tentatively. New bird arrivals this morning: Eastern Phoebe, Song Sparrows, and Tree Swallows .
The Tree Swallows are doing the home inspections and considering their choices. The competition is fierce.
Absolutely fantastic #SpringMigration day of #Birding#CentralPark today! Had 7 first-of-season #birds: Blue-winged Warbler, Worm-eating Warbler, Chestnut-sided Warbler, Nashville Warbler, Scarlet Tanager, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, Gray-cheeked Thrush.
My favorites were the Blue-winged Warblers. There were several of them in the vicinity of the Azalea Pond, all calling noisily, making them relatively easy to spot. #NaturePhotography
The Wood Thrush has a welcome song of spring, a flute-like melody that echos through the forest. The male combines notes and trills to sing over 50 distinct songs. #Birds#BirdPhotography#SpringMigration
Three Ruby-crowned Kinglets I saw a couple days ago in Rockport, Massachusetts USA (the first ones I've seen this spring). The male and the female in the third photo were zooming around and flying in little circles around each other. #BirdsOfMastodon#NewEngland#CapeAnn#SpringMigration#Birds
