Just finished watching Samsung Unpacked.
"A new era for Mobile AI!"
Ugh.

This is going to be a minor iterative year for Galaxy Fans. The hardware is only getting small changes. The major claims about AI mostly come from Google Gemini (which Google PAINSTAKINGLY kept reiterating would be on "android" phones, not just Galaxy phones).

And we glossed over a lot of the things that might impact folks daily use, like Exynos chips vs Qualcomm chips.

When pocket computers are THIS expensive, I think we need to see more than a handful of translation features and photo editing tools.

We did get a sneak peek at this new Galaxy Donut CG render though. So that was cool.

The Russian military has turned to “mass recruitment” of women from prisons and detention facilities to fight in the Ukraine war.

The first group of 50 incarcerated women was sent to the front in January from a detention facility in the Luhansk “people’s republic”, according to Olga Romanova, founder of the Russia Behind Bars human rights organisation.

This is what a traitor to the United States looks like in 2024.

His name is Tucker Carlson.

He took a large amount of money from Vladimir Putin to interview him, give him a hyped up positive spin, and then blame President Biden for the war in Ukraine.

Putin paid Trump to block US aid to Ukraine and now he's paying Tucker Carlson to shine his image and throw dirt on President Biden.

There are no words...

Short on #prison guards? Why not recruit high school kids?

That's exactly what the #Texas Department of Corrections is doing. Our friends at the Marshall Project take us inside a classroom in Palestine:

I THINK......

Prigozhin just did his power grab to Rostov.

He wants control over the military.. He wants Putin to give him that control.

Putin may be in on this to get rid of Gerasimov and Shoigu without dirtying his hands... Call the troops back from Ukraine once they're gone.. And try to save his own ass by riding the coattails of Prigozhin...

What do you think? Please leave a comment.

It has been absolutely jam-packed -wise in , so maybe I should give a rundown of what’s happened in just the month of July…

  1. Ministerial statements on K Shanmugam (home affairs and law minister) and Vivian Balakrishnan (foreign affairs minister) living in huge state-owned properties. The Singapore Land Authority, who manages these properties, comes under the law ministry. But the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB) cleared them of any wrongdoing.

Russian President Vladimir Putin's appointment of a new defense minister, Andrey Belousov, is seen as an attempt to streamline Russia's economy and mobilize it for the war effort.

Russia's military has faced numerous supply and logistics problems that thwarted its all-out war against Ukraine from the get-go. Two years later, the problems of poor logistics and lack of strategic planning persist.

BREAKING NEWS!

Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz filed a resolution late Monday to oust Kevin McCarthy as speaker, setting up a likely showdown vote in the House in the days ahead.

The far-right Republican from Florida has for months threatened to use a procedural tool — called a motion to vacate — to try to strip McCarthy of his office.

Google has a mountain of behavior data on me, and probably knows how viciously anti-diamond I am. Yet these ads regularly pop up in my news feed.
Google charging a client for an ad hit that will never materialize into traffic for their company, and frustrating me to make more money on totally fake metrics.
Both consumers and advertisers are getting squeezed for a more enshittified experience.

THE ANGER I FEEL....

Khrystyna and Svitlana were singing in the street in Zaporizhzhia an hour before a Russian missile strike on the city, and this video of them was filmed.

One of them died yesterday at the site of the strike. She was 19 years old. The other girl died in the ICU today. She was 21.

Deepest condolences to their families.

Russia must pay.
