I think this is my first time being on the other side of a #TwitterMigration. It's pretty cool! For all the new folks here making an #introduction for those concerned about not being able to find POC, I strongly recommend starting by following hashtags and using those to follow people who use/are associated with them. I did that and found a really active, engaged, diverse, and vibrant Black community here. Use the following hashtags in particular:
There are other hashtags associated with other communities - our Indigenous siblings use #Indigenous and maybe #NDN, not sure. And every once in a while, someone will tweet a bunch of good accounts to follow. Personally, I could do with more #french#francais or #spanish#espanol content, but that's kind of on me.
#French stock market now replaced UK as Europe's highest value market, (France 2.823 trillion US $, UK 2.821 trillion US $). Before #Brexit UK stocks worth 1.5 trillion more than France. Former BofE officials say UK “permanently damaged” by Brexit disaster. #Brexiteers should hold their heads in shame. https://rb.gy/brdy37#rejoinEU
French accessibility shop Koena, owned by @armonyaltinier is close but still short of its 10,000 euro goal needed to appeal the verdict against it in the lawsuit filed by a global overlay company. Please support if you can.
Many British adults regret not concentrating in their French or German lessons at school. Most believe that languages should again become compulsory in school.
Many feel ashamed that they cannot speak another language and would welcome the opportunity to learn.
Only 21% of UK adults said they can have a conversation in a modern language that's not their mother tongue, according to a YouGov poll commissioned by the British Academy.
This whimsical image is a best seller in my gallery. The restaurant Cochon Dingue (crazy pig), Quebec City. An institution on the St. Lawrence river, they have been serving up delicious French food for over 35 years.
#French troops are preparing for a high-intensity conflict against an enemy who can match them with firepower — a big change for an army that's spent the past decades fighting counterinsurgency
Conditions for the troops training at CENTAC are as close as possible to an actual battlefield. The sound, heat and light of artillery fire is reproduced, while fake mines are scattered everywhere, and radio communications can be interrupted without notice

Did you know that the first female supercentenarian (someone reaching the age of 110) was also the first person whose life spanned three centuries?
Margaret Ann Neve was born in Guernsey in 1792. Her father was a wealthy privateer who died aged 49.
She remembered the #French#Revolution & visited #Waterloo just after the battle. She was married but childless. She did not eat or drink between meals, climbed an apple tree aged 110 & got her first ever illness at age 105.
