How come gets to turn up out of nowhere and decree that this is now “the immigration election”‽

Ordinary voter here, and I don’t give a tinker’s toss about . I’d much prefer this to be “the climate change election”, please. If you agree, give this a RT. ♻️

Just finished filling out the application for a postal vote 💪

I incorrectly thought that as I had previously registered for a postal vote for the Scottish elections, which lasts forever, I automatically had a postal vote for the UK Parliamentary elections too.

Nope!

Both need to be registered, and the postal vote for the UK Parliamentary elections only lasts three years - you need to keep renewing it!!

So I did today, and you can too if you're interested:

Quick browser question:

Is Vivaldi a chromium browser? I use Firefox, I am happy with Firefox, and I will continue to use Firefox as my main browser.

However, sometimes, things don't resolve properly if you're not using a chromium browser. Ideally, I would just not use those - seriously, if you can't be arsed making your site work on multiple browsers, I can't be arsed visiting your site - but on occasion I have no choice. There'll be something I need to do, and I need to use a chromium browser.

So I keep Opera installed on my phone (android) as an alternative for such situations. However, I keep reading lately how Opera is not just a bit rubbish but actively a bad thing.

I would like to have a chromium browser alternative that's as not-evil as possible. Is Vivaldi the answer?

(Please, if you're thinking of saying 'don't use android', or 'refuse to access any chromium-only sites', then don't. Don't be that person. Go away and think about your life choices instead.)

I found an old funny video/documentation:

Thereman (2013-2014)

It's very simple, it's a theremin walkman. One hand/antenna controls the speed of the tape and the other hand/antenna controls the amplitude. The video is one of the early working prototypes.

Some thoughts:
It's a shame that you can't do this project today. Because in the past you could find Walkmans very cheaply (1-5 EUR) at flea markets or even in the trash. For the theremin part you only needed two antennas, some resistors, one transistor and an attiny84. I found so many Walkmans that it was even possible to organize workshops.

Anyway, capitalism has to reproduce itself and therefore I will find new material. In 15-20 years I'll be doing projects with current smartphones or the Pis and SBCs you're all using at the moment 😀

I cannot stress this enough.

If you are not registered to vote. Do it now.

It's easy and simple.

If you don't have valid ID you can get it free from your local authority.

Now.
