#DJT dropped another 8.43% to 37.17 today.

That's down over 50% from it's high of 79.38 on 3/26/2024 only 8 days ago.

Talk about a collapse!!! LOL!!!👏

As you know, I go to a ton of #carmeets. Well, #Cybertrucks have started showing up to a couple of morning meets the past two weekends.

And I noticed something interesting: car people ignored them. Nobody stopped their conversation to look. Nobody got on their knees to take photos. Nobody got their phones out to make reels. They just glanced at the truck, and went right back to talking with their pals. Absolutely zero interest.

It’s fascinating because the weirdest-looking, ostensibly most technologically interesting vehicle to have come out in decades shows up, and car enthusiasts treat it like it were a Kia Sedona. Every reviewer of the Cybertruck says they constantly get stopped by people wherever they go—well, apparently, this does not happen at car gatherings.

And it’s not about EVs, either. Bring a Rimac Nevera, and I guarantee you’ll get a crowd forming around your car. It’s the Cybertruck in particular.

@drahardja

IDK about that.

I'm a car geek and have been to my share of car meets and what I think is going on is not a lack of interest but an intentional shunning of the CyberTruck owners because, if you showed any interest in one, your car geek friends would say: "WTF's the matter with you!!! 🤦‍♂️

Outside of the meet, I'd like to take a look at one, just to check it out, but at a meet, no way I'm going to show any interest in one. 🤷‍♂️

Reminder for folks in the #sfba that the #2024SolarEclipse will be visible in the bay starting around 10:13 am today, with maximum coverage around 11:13. We’re expected to see an occlusion of a bit less than half of the sun around here.

Sorry but I can't get excited about a partial eclipse.

If I had given it any thought, I would have arranged a trip to Matzatlan where I could experience the TOTAL eclipse, which would have been a rare experience, but I didn't. Oh well . . .

Thought about making a pinhole camera to view the eclipse's image but I'm going to be busy around 11-11:15 (when the eclipse will be at its max in the SFBA) to bother.

But I'm not worried because there will be thousands of images posted to the Net that will be better than any image that a pinhole cam can provide.

The Giants lose tonight 4-0 to the Padres but, but for a grand slam HR with 3 on & 2 out in the top of the 1st, it would the score would have been 0-0 at the end of the 9th and would have gone into extra innings. Oh well . . . 🤷‍♂️

@divya An interesting article that I do not agree with because it is so one-sided and polemic but AAPI people, in general, and organizers/leaders in the "Stop Asian Hate" movement should read it to understand why some people have concerns about how the movement is going about its business.

@divya Two old sayings come to mind:

"To the victors go the spoils." (NY Senator William Marcy, 1828)

    See: https://www.thoughtco.com/the-spoils-system-1773347

"History is written by the victors."

A saying most recently attributed to Churchill but one that goes much farther back in time but most notably spoken in 1891 by Missouri Sen George Graham (who according to the article referenced below who was previously a congressman for the Confederacy who even then still supported the rights of states to secede from the Union) as follows:

“In all revolutions the vanquished are the ones who are guilty of treason, even by the historians,” . . . “for history is written by the victors and framed according to the prejudices and bias existing on their side.”

@sharonecathcart I just saw #PoorThings before the #Oscars yesterday too and the following quote from the article helped me better understand the theme of the movie.

"The visually gorgeous film offers plenty of Bella’s sexual awakening, which surely appeals to Poor Things director Yorgos Lanthimos, but may distract many moviegoers from its larger theme."

    It definitely confused me. 💩

"I hope that Bella’s pursuit of knowledge—which continues to accelerate as Bella learns more and more about the reality of life—is the the theme that lingers."

The theme didn't linger with me but I plan to re-watch the movie with this point in mind which should give me a better appreciation the film.

I'd go to All Star Donuts for coffee/donuts while the car is charging.

I never stopped collecting #DVDs. Just cataloged my collection which numbers 2183 at the moment.

As for storage, I discard the cases but keep the paper covers and store the DVDs in sleeves in specially designed CD/DVD storage units with built in drawers. I've got 6 of these units which each have 2 drawers in them. I use 3 of these units for DVDs & 3 for CDs.

The company that use to make these units was named "Per Madsen" (the owner of the company) which was based in San Francisco Per retired and that thought that these units were no longer available but I just discovered that someone bought the company and is still making these units.

    See: https://ryantinselwoodworker.com/rackit-by-per-madsen/

They're expensive but well worth it if you are looking for a way to efficiently store your DVD/CD collections.

I also own 36 Per Madsen designed "Rack it" units that cover a wall in a room in my house to store my 1800 LP record collection.

I nominate #TomHanks for POTUS based on his performance in the Apple/Sony movie -- "Greyhound" (2024) -- that I just watched in which he plays the commander of a destroyer group tasked to protect a convey of supply ships across the Atlantic from a Nazi U2 submarine "wolfpack" during #WWII.

The screenplay was written (at least in part) by Tom Hanks himself.

It is a very taut & exciting film. Unfortunately, because it is an Apply production, it will probably never be released on DVD (it took me 3 years to find a DVD copy of "Coda" (2021), another Apple production which won the #Oscar for Best Film that year, and the only way to view it is if you have an Apple account or are willing to use "alternative streaming sites" as I did, but, if you have means/will/opportunity, I highly recommend that you watch this film.

Not only does it not save any batteries or resources, it’s actually worse to kill apps instead of letting the system suspend them, because you have to cold-launch the app again the next time you use it, wastefully running initialization code and reloading resources instead of resuming where you left off.

Killing your apps is literally worse for your battery life than just leaving them alone. https://allthingstech.social/@beardedtechguy/111960674538537088

3rd movie watched today -- "Gook" (2017) -- an indie film made/directed by Korean American Justin Chon -- which won a Audience Award at Sundance that year.

It's a gritty, "in-your-face" B&W film set on the 1st day of the Rodney King riots in LA in 1992 -- which didn't have much to do w/the plot of the film itself -- which highlights the conflict between the Black & Asian communities pretty much everywhere -- including North Beach when there was still a low income housing project there and in Oakland C-town now -- but is more a story about interpersonal relationships between & within the Korean American & Black communities.

It's a tough watch but IMO it's one of the better recently made Asian American films in recent years.
