Conversation with a man in my street.
Him: “this isn’t a legal parking spot, is it?” (hopeful tone of voice)
Me: “if it covers any part of the driveway, no, it’s not”
Him: “Including the red part?” (Of the curb)
Me: “Uh, yeah.”
(Duh. You’re literally asking if the red means no… it means no, dude) #sfba#parking#SFBay
Me, not saying: “I saw someone the other day taking pics of a car that was parked over the red area and better than you are so they could report it, so I wouldn’t park there”
I don’t know who needs to hear this but basically every Sunday there’s a different kind of dog meetup in Stern Grove and yesterday’s was SF Weens aka a literal sausage party.
Chihuahuas meet up on the first Sunday of the month, and you’d think it’d be chaotic (I’ve counted as many as 100 in attendance at once) but they’re very calm and well behaved when they’re with their own kind.
If you love dogs but are currently dogfree by like me (because Reasons aka Banana), this is an incredible opportunity to meet very many of them and enjoy a nice day in one of our most beautiful public parks. Or bring your own dog, if you happen to be so lucky.
Ridwell (https://www.ridwell.com) is on the side of some boxes in my neighborhood porches. It's apparently a service which accepts hard-to-recycle items like plastic films.
But why do we have this for-profit business instead of pushing #oakland to improve it's existing recycling program? Or legislate a reduction in single-use plastics? #SFBA
We're brand new here, so we thought we'd thought we'd share an #introduction !
Who we are: a 25-year old non-profit vet clinic in the East Bay dedicated to making high-quality surgical care accessible to all.
What we do: We never turn anyone away for lack of funds: since 2014, Animal Fix Clinic has performed more than 50,000 life-saving and life-changing spay/neuter surgeries at low or no cost.
Even though our work focuses on helping animals, it's really about helping people make good decisions for the animals they love without considering cost. We keep pets with their families where they belong.
Right now, we're working to renovate the former Contra Costa Pinole shelter into our full-time, permanent home!
Why you should follow us: We know that many of you love #catsofmastodon and #dogsofmastodon so we hope we can become friends.
We promise cute pictures and progress of construction on our new clinic.
Anyone in the Bay Area happen to have a connection to The Mercury News and/or SF Chronicle's digital media team? Would love to attempt to connect with them and somehow try and convince them to create their own official #Mastodon account. Not a Mastodon instance. Just an account. It'd be nice if they could use the #fediverse to better serve the local Bay Area community.
Saw something new today on the freeway. On both WB & EB approaches to Vacaville on I-80: there are now stay in your lane signs, curve signs, & ALL lanes are separated by a solid white line for a short distance. Not sure if this is temporary as a part of the managed lanes construction project or a permanent measure. #I80#SFBA#SolanoCounty#Vacaville
It'd be nice if local Bay Area media outlets would have their own official presence on Mastodon. Wouldn't be hard from them to setup their own account on mastodon.social or on a more local instance like sfba.social
I'm raising lots of kale on our balcony. The cooler weather this week has brought out the blue on the leaves. Very delicious in salads and lots of dishes. Highly recommend for gardeners in San Francisco! #sfba#SanFrancisco#MissionBay#BayArea#Dogpatch#VegetableGardening#Urban Gardening
