I know the Internet is flooded with aurora photos now, but check this craziness from our yard. These are straight out of the iPhone, no post production on them.
I’ve always wanted to see this, and finally I have. SO MUCH HAPPY.
I spent 25 years working in broadcast news, and I never saw a newsroom not suck up to local police with every fiber of their being, or to ever question the info coming out of a police spokesman’s mouth, or to ever report anything that might make the cops look anything less than superheroes.
(I’m not saying there aren’t independent news outlets that don’t report fairly on the police, but I am saying they are few and far between.)
I feel like this should be common knowledge, but if it isn't: if your rechargeable batteries are completely dead and won't take a charge in your smart charger (the kind that knows when your battery is fully charged and stops charging then), if you pop them into an old-school "dumb" charger (the kind that has no clue if your battery has any juice left in it or not) for a few minutes to put a little bit of charge into them, they'll work again in the smart charger and you don't have to toss em out!
Happily updating my filters to block keyword “Trump.”
Yes, I know he’s a very real threat to gestures at everything. But reading about him every time I scroll through here isn’t doing anything good for my mental health right now, thanks.
So in case you ever wondered, if you're in the middle of an automated voice-recognizing phone tree and your VERY loud cat is walking around meowing at the top of his lungs, the phone tree will continually stop in the middle of all options to tell you "I'm sorry, I didn't understand that last part," and then start over again from the top of the options menu.
The truly impressive thing about this obit for David McCallum, who died today at the age of 90, is that his obit was written by a man who died in 2014.
Are we saying that all VCs are people who wreck companies and destroy lives? Or are you saying he was a member of a specific VC company known for wrecking companies and destroying lives?
Welcome to America, where you have to show proof that you are employed in order to receive food stamps. If you don’t have a job, enjoy starving or something, I guess.
I covered the “Welfare to Work” bill under Clinton for a this day in legal history segment last week. It flies under the radar for all time immiseration from a single bill.
I’ve been spending the last month or so ripping all our old CDs, and I’ve finally come across the Repo Man soundtrack in the stacks—which isn’t available streaming anywhere.
