sebastianmalloy, I feel like this should be common knowledge, but if it isn't: if your rechargeable batteries are completely dead and won't take a charge in your smart charger (the kind that knows when your battery is fully charged and stops charging then), if you pop them into an old-school "dumb" charger (the kind that has no clue if your battery has any juice left in it or not) for a few minutes to put a little bit of charge into them, they'll work again in the smart charger and you don't have to toss em out!
