So here’s the menu from last night… amazing food… we shared very spicy kimchi and a wakame salad, then I had the poke bowl with ginger and garlic tofu and sweet and salty sauce. We woke up to no water this morning. Expecting the plumber to show up by 11 and hoping it’s not a complicated fix.

In the meantime we’re getting a refresher course on how essential running water is to EVERYTHING.

@dancinyogi @Sharonbw We take these things for granted… a few years ago our neighbours cut through a pipe that served both our flats, and they couldn’t make the repair for over 24 hours. We were furious. We got bottled drinking water but obviously we couldn’t wash or run appliances

I’m a bit cross because we had a dinner reservation for 7 people for tonight and the other 5 have pulled out. Obviously, I’m happy to be having dinner with my husband, but first we told the restaurant yesterday that we would be 3, not 7, now we will have to tell them that we are only 2. I feel like our friendship group has messed the restaurant about and that it doesn’t show much commitment. I’m looking forward to the food, though - it’s a vegan poke restaurant with delicious-sounding mocktails. Not sure how vegan poke works, we’ll find out later!

    @Alice Once during the height of Covid I got accosted at a bus stop by a total Covid conspiracy theorist… boy, was there a lot in there… the killer vaccine… governments monitoring and controlling us through contactless payment chips… something about when Jesus returns… yadda yadda Great Reset… I started off saying, “Oh no, I don’t think… I can’t agree that…” but quickly lapsed into silence. She was happy to rave on regardless of whether I spoke or not. That wait for the bus felt LONG

    Just ran a treadmill 5km in 41’ 50” - 30 seconds off my PB, darn it! First time I have successfully run 5km in a couple of months. It was a progression run, so I pushed the pace a little each km (I did start very slowly!), then cooled down by walking 300m before doing a #peloton post-run stretch. Rest day tomorrow, then a 4km easy run on Sunday. It will be nice to run somewhere new (the Quarry park in Shrewsbury) #running #fitness #FitnessJourney #5k

    Awake

    I slept better than prior 2 nights, but not great. Basically I'll be about the same as yesterday, but hopefully the physical symptoms of caffeine withdrawal remain milder than yesterday.

    There's an approaching line of showers and thunderstorms that might make the morning sit and chat with Ginza impossible if she doesn't show up.

    But I'm trying to get sorted. I have eaten a banana and am drinking the decaf tea. Have washed and smoothed face.

    Next put on clothes and brush hair.

    @markusl @RickiTarr @pseudonym Mine had layers of sliced strawberry, strawberry sauce, whipped cream with icing sugar and vanilla, vanilla ice cream, and toppings of Flake, wafer tube, mini marshmallows and sprinkles 😋 I made it because we were celebrating a friend’s 79th birthday and he has sometimes talked about enjoying them as a child

    Awake.

    I realized overnight that I might be hitting the shitty portion of withdrawal symptoms from caffeine. My last cup of regular tea was Saturday morning. At first any sense of withdrawal was mild, but it has intensified in the last 2 days and is making me rather uncomfortable at times.

    Probably a good thing I weaned myself down though maybe I should have calculated a more prolonged wean which may have ended with every other day a cup of regular tea.

    Knickerbocker glory… not great pics, too much shadow, but it was delicious and our friend was very pleased I tried to recreate his childhood memory

    @dancinyogi Cinnamon lost all interest in toys when she got to go outside, I guess she gets all the stimulation she needs in the garden. We gave all her toys to the cat rescue shelter
