A classy IPA, not too strong at 4%, not too citrussy, lovely clear look for a hot spring day. Lots of sweet and sour taste. Thumbs up.

A sweet, malty red brew with that slight, bitter, Felinfoel hop aftertaste.

George Monbiot on the role of profit in (children's) social care:

'two Northamptonshire councils revealed they are paying an average of £281,000 a year for each residential placement, or £5,400 a week. A direct comparison cannot be made, because many children in care have complex needs, but just by way of reference Eton’s eye-watering fees are £46,000 a year'!

So, much of tax payers money is supporting investors not those needing care!

@mandelbroccoli @ChrisMayLA6 I work for a local authority in social care. We employ drivers and have a fleet of minibuses to collect children on routes around the county.

Much cheaper to spend £30k driver/assistant wages and ~£15k annual vehicle costs than £40k per pupil taxi fees for the AVG. 8 pupils per run. Plus the staff are trained in safety and have paid leave and a decent wage.

Apple’s failure to make a flagship iMac available to pro creatives pisses me off so much that I find myself considering buying a high end windows machine.

But then I think about what it’s like to work on Windows and I’m ashamed.

@dgar I've been on macs and Linux since I switched from the Amiga in the mid 90s. The worst period for me was when I bought a dual G5 and it had a digital bleep every second or so on all the audio inputs including a very expensive 32 channel soundcard setup. I don't do much paid work these days so I'm sodiering on with an i7 iMac from 2017, which lets me run reason, logic, older Photoshop, fcp, etc. at the level i need.

Tricky to dress for #cycling when it's 1 Celsius. Too heavy and you get super sweaty. Too light and you get cold when you're off your bike.

I quite like the routine of starting the weekend with a THING & have been thinking about what to do when I hit a year of the dancers.

I had a thought but it's a collaborative project & I'm not sure enough people would want to join in.

It would involve a dance between a Real Life dancer & a Friday dancer.

  • Mastodonian chooses a move & uploads a short video of themselves (or willing accomplice) doing it

  • I edit it together with the original dancer

  • post on a Friday for the weekend

    Try this: Ask your white US friends what the statue of liberty celebrates.

    Now ask your Black friends. Or French folk of any color.
