The biggest challenge in 2024 is to get enough people to actually listen to what Trump and those around him are openly, consistently, and explicitly promising to do once they get back to power.

It is utterly deranged, and discounting it as just rhetoric would be a disaster.

A 10% annual tax on all assets over $1Billion, personal and corporate. They’d never notice. Would that be enough to provide free breakfast and lunch in schools for every child who needed* it? Would there be any left over? Enough to expand to any child who wanted it? Sure, it’s socialism, but it’s just the billionaires paying for it, so fuck them. They can afford it.

Please don't call it "idiot-proof": there aren't actually very many idiots in the world. Call it "weary-tolerant", as in, "Let's make this software upgrade process weary-tolerant so that people who've woken up at five in the morning to look after a sick kid can get a server back online on the first try." Or "multi-tasking compatible", as in, "Let's make this interface MTC so that people who are trying to put out three fires at once don't bork their installation by using tabs instead of spaces."
