Mastodon is a bad influence on me... I’m getting mild wish to learn not just French, but even German* too, so I can more easily understand people’s post :-)

  • I had 5 years of German in school. I was not a fan… :-) (my brain is not easily compatible with German grammar)

Random. Just a cool animal. I knew people who would catch and eat them; they'll take off a finger if you don't know how to handle one.

Also time blindness: You just looked at the clock 1 hour ago but it's only actually moved 3 minutes

Mastodon (or at least the apps for it) should make threading posts easier to do.

Being able to thread and post multiple short posts at once would be handy too.

One kid had a party this morning and the other wanted to go to ikea to look at desks for their computer.

Once we were all together again I mentioned that we were probably all overwhelmed and needed quiet time and they agreed. We are all on devices in separate bedrooms being silent.

Is this what a functional neurodivergent family looks like?

It never ceases to amaze me how consistently allistic people fail to hear clear spoken words in favour of secret subtext.

Sometimes I’m amazed by how slow I am now.

How much time it takes me to do so little.

I try to remember that I'm recovering from burnout, and my previous pace was unsustainable and should not be the baseline.

And it's hard to find motivation in a world so bleak.

But still.

I'm sitting in the dark, with the window blinds closed, because I feel like I just need it that way right now for no discernable reason. This is probably what my therapist means by nervous system regulation and emotional regulation. 🤔

I really like sensory deprivation—sometimes even more than others.

Slightly bugged dwelling on vs. , particularly with my experiences. I feel like a lot of non-medical resources lump ADHD symptoms and expereinces in with Autism ones, for good reason as a majority of Autis have ADHD, but now my impostor syndrome has gone "Oh I may be Autistic only" to "Oh I may be AuDHD" to "Oh I may be ADHD only" and it's really confusing!

TIL that zoning out is an ADHD thing - which feels good to learn about because I did it a freaking ton when I was a kid and it's reassuring for it to be "normal" for the neurotype and not entirely problematic. It's weirdly like a mental comfort thing for me (frequently did this after school) and maybe I'll embrace that more.

I often see abled urbanists leaping on the words of any disabled person who says that they can get along without a car, but not being as eager to boost efforts of disabled people pointing out inaccessible infrastructure that often prevents them from dumping cars.

Don't be that person - be as willing to boost (and work for) calls for accessibility as you are to boost disabled people who happen to cycle.

Both abled car-centrists and abled urbanists use disabled people as a cudgel in arguments. Emphasis on "use".

Make your movement accessible, then when disabled ppl are involved - listen. Then get active on problems disabled ppl identify.

We cannot equitably drastically reduce personal motor vehicle use (as we need to) without prioritizing making public transit, train, and cycle infrastructure fully accessible in ways that allow for disabled people to get around independently #Cycling #Urbanism

: Happy when I'm not around others because I can think clearly, but then my executive function tanks because it's understimulating and I can't get my non-urgent tasks done

: Happy when I'm with others because socialization is a healthy thing and there is stimuli, but then I'm a nervous wreck because I don't know how to have a normal conversation with them and they''re overstimulating me

I think one of the reasons privileged people can be such jerks is because people are generally unable to perceive that which lies outside of their own experiences. So when they see someone who's really suffering, they just assume they're weak. "I don't suffer, so why should THEY?"

That's why people tend to despise those of us living with depression. They see us as weak because, in their minds, they believe everyone around them is as privileged as they are. They actually cannot see other people's experiences, ony a mirror reflecting their own experiences back at them.

I'm looking for the title of a movie. Any help is appreciated.

It wasn't in English (Spanish?) and was a vignette film with six(?) storytellers' takes on a machine that generates any possible image, such as the pages of an unwritten play by Shakespeare, and the resulting apocalypse.

I'm 99% sure I saw it on netflix about two years ago.

“AuDHD represents a blend of ADHD and autistic traits, leading to unique experiences and challenges. When the underlying needs of ADHD and autism interact, it can feel like a tug of war for the AuDHDer - Do I need routine or spontaneity? Newness or familiarity? Busyness or a steady pace? Though these examples are quite simplistic, they illustrate the internal confusion of the AuDHDer attempting to address their needs.”

Mood: seeing a video of a bear righting an orange traffic cone and, instead of being amused by how human the action is, being depressed by what our presence has done to wildlife and the barren landscape in which the bear walks.
