Earlier today, Israeli settlers launched an attack on the #UNRWA headquarters in occupied #Jerusalem, setting fire to its surroundings. Israeli authorities have not intervened or made any arrests among the Israeli attackers.

The #Democrats and #Republicans have happily colluded to try to keep any other contestants out of the race. This Press Freedom Award from UNESCO is in recognition of the 141 dead journalists who Israel has killed in #gaza in the past few months. So, the Eurovision song contest kicked off today with opening ceremonies. This year's contest is particularly controversial due to the inclusion of Israel (notably not a European nation) and their attempts to submit a song which appeared to reference the October Hamas attacks. Political songs are not allowed in Eurovision.

I've been mostly watching news on the contest through following Icelandic papers as part of my fascination with the ongoing eruption there.

The American Israel Public Affairs Committee is reportedly secretly intervening to stymie Susheela Jayapal's (sister of Rep. Pramila) congressional race in Portland.

AIPAC is funneling money through 314 Action, which says it helps elect Democrats with a science background, in this case Maxine Dexter, a doctor.

Jewish Insider news had floated Dexter as a potentially pro-Israel candidate before she entered the race.

So the RTA's own modelling showed the Rozelle Interchange would be a traffic disaster—but generating more toll road trips for Transurban was more important.

It's a pity the# US won't send #gaza as many of the HDR packs as they do bullets to #Israel. 25,000 meals won't go far in a population of 2 million.

AND, luckily for those still starving on the small amount of aid, help is coming. The $ billions in #US weaponry being given for free to #Israel means soon there won't be so many #Palestinians to worry about feeding.....

@Lassielmr @DrALJONES I can only agree.I once lived in Israel, and loved it. I was a beneficiary of the apartheid system, but never even noticed it. It took me some years to wake up to the disastrous human rights practices and right-wing extremism of the State, and to accept the reality of its blood-soaked history.. This acceptance was made harder by having to take a stand against some people there for whom I have great affection.

@appassionato @palestine I still grive for that wonderful woman, - murdered by an sniper who has never been held accountable. Yet knows who it was. Even sadder is that hundreds more journalists have been murdered by since - many in the recent attack on Gaza. Still, not one Israeli soldier has been charged for any of these hundreds of murders - not one.

@anathema_device My limited information - and understanding of nuclear science - suggests that thorium is potentially a far more efficient, cheaper and safer alternative to traditional nuclear power. I note it is still NOT renewable, but may help satisfy energy demand in an acceptable way. At least for the interim, while better technology takes over. @exchgr I hope all #hostages get home safely - those held by #Hamas (about 130, I believe) & the 9,500 held in #Israel prisons, many of them women & children (most not even charged, let alone tried in a civilian court). Some of these Israeli hostages have been tortured. Some have died from abuse & medical neglect by Israeli authorities. @DenisCOVIDinfoguy @auscovid19 I'm not denying the existence of Long Covid at all, but I must note that of the dozens of people I know who have had Covid, not one has long Covid. If over 1-in-4 people have it, surely one of approx 50 people should have it? Either I know a really skewed sample of people, or that 28% claim is incorrect. PS My sympathies to those who do suffer the sequelae of Covid infection over the long term.
