The "failure" comment makes sense in context, b/c Graham is saying Hitler should have been stopped sooner. But that underlines the fact that this simpering hypocrite is one of the most shameless and opportunistic apologists for the aspiring American Hitler. Now it's people like Trump and Graham who must be stopped. https://www.threads.net/@aaron.rupar/post/C7_8sgegp9M

@stevesilberman I still don’t get it. It was right-wingers like Graham who appeased Hitler, just as Graham and his party are now appeasing Putin. What lesson does he expect us to draw?

TIL that—as of 1954—an original van Gogh painting hanging in the bedroom of a woman working as a telephone operator and sharing a Manhattan apartment with two others would be enough to raise suspicion that she had another source of income but not enough to suggest that she was wealthy.

Trump is testing the mainstream press. He’s saying in every way possible: Yes, I really am going to be a dictator. Yes, I really am going to dismantle the democratic institutions that have defined this country for 250 years. Yes, this really will be the last election, if I win it. And by the way, of course that means the end of a free press.

Now, how are you going to cover this political season? https://mastodon.social/@indivisibleteam/112576597337880208

Of course Biden won’t pardon his son. It would be scandalously corrupt for the president to use his pardon power in behalf of a family member.

The only reason anyone even asks is that Trump used his pardon power corruptly, in behalf of cronies, donors, and—literally—his own criminal co-conspirators. By and large the news media gave him a pass. Just Trump being Trump.

I think it's just a shame that Clacton's MacDonalds don't sell Durian milkshakes.

The Republican House has established a Piggy Bank for members of Congress. They can claim tens of thousands of dollars in expenses without itemizing them or providing receipts.

Guess which Congressman has grabbed the most money.

“I did not find the case trivial. I found it nauseating, a grouping of some of the least attractive and sleaziest human beings I have ever imagined in proximity to the levers of power. And critically, these were people actively and consciously engaged in an effort to corrupt an election. I came away from the trial thinking it was actually important that Trump had to answer for this conduct.”

When deciding what sentence to impose on a convicted in New York State, does the judge take into consideration the defendant’s contrition or lack thereof? Does anyone know?

Asking for no particular reason.

May 27 — The social-media account of Donald Trump today posted, in place of a Memorial Day message, an angry stream-of-consciousness rant, apparently by the former president himself, directing invective against “Human Scum” and the judges handling his various federal and state trials. He referred to the United States as “our Once Great Country,” to the CNN journalist Anderson Cooper as “Alison Cooper,” and to the judges as “Wacko” and “Trump Hating.” (1/2)

In a string of falsehoods larded with sarcasm and odd capitalization, he expressed rage at civil court findings that he committed rape and fraud and again attacked Judge Juan Merchan over his ongoing criminal case in New York. (2/2)

“The chances of Sam Alito recusing himself from any of these cases is effectively whatever the Kelvin equivalent of 0% is. But that isn’t a reason to let the matter drop. That’s classic policy literalism. There should be an investigation. There should be everything. Because that’s how politics works. Things break through and you actually have an effect when you make noise, when you push on doors. We shouldn’t even be talking about it as a flag controversy. (2/3)

JamesGleick,

We need to investigate Alito’s support for the Jan. 6th coup attempt and demand he recuse himself from any case tied to the coup attempt.”
