Hi folks, I know folks mean well when they post information on news events, but PLEASE vet your sources before reposting dramatic articles/etc. you see. If you're not familiar with the publication, DON'T POST IT. Or check on the source...

For example, I recently saw an article posted from the Daily Caller, which is essentially a channel for white supremacist propaganda, interspersed with other normal news.

https://www.mediamatters.org/maga-trolls/daily-caller-has-published-white-supremacists-anti-semites-and-bigots-here-are-ones-we

@ai6yr I watch that mess like a hawk. Took years to recognize every "fake news" rag when I see them.
Daily caller is a hate site, daily mail is a tabloid ect ect.

The Supreme Court Rules That Cops Can Steal Your Stuff—as They Always Have
By a 6-3 vote, the conservative justices decided that there is no need for the state to provide a preliminary hearing in civil forfeiture cases.😡

When cops decide to help themselves to your property, they can do it without a warrant, without securing a conviction, without even charging you with a crime. 😡

When the government doesn't obey the law,
Then there is no law.

@janisf @maddad @Jon_Kramer The cycle you've noticed is as old as humanity.
That's why I don't spend all day just screeching about anarchism. It would just be part of yet another cycle in the end.

B_Whitewind,
@B_Whitewind@regenerate.social avatar

@janisf @Jon_Kramer @maddad I only speak as I do because I spent a very long time thinking about this problem. In the end my conclusion was that it is the way it is because it's just easier to be a piece of s*** shrugs
If you ever find the answer, let us know. Lord knows mankind has spent eons thinking about it.

UN Special Rapporteur nails the situation in Gaza. It's ethnic cleansing, genocide, domicide, and a "a very grave war crime under international law, particularly given Israel’s status as an occupying power."

He likens it to a 'turkey shoot':

"They are just doing target practice on the people of Gaza"

, any experience or hints using coffee grounds in compost?

B_Whitewind,
@B_Whitewind@regenerate.social avatar

@colhill I used to use it for my worm bins.
Little newspaper, little coffee grounds, little worms boom gold.
I've learned since that I should have made a better worm bin and varied their diet a little bit. It worked out for years though.
I've also since learned that whatever you put in there for the worms to compost will affect the nutrient content of said compost.
My last stop will be to use the worm tea as a targeted liquid fertilizer someday.

@moira @futurebird Yes those are my ants! I have those f****** ants everywhere here like you will never understand how many of those f****** ants are around this place.
I don't know where they go but they want the leaves man. They want to eat leaves and take them with them to the leaf supply, ant depot or whatever. I don't know where they go with it!
They will bite you but like you know usually they won't. I think they basically have just given up and don't bother me much anymore but they still come in here sometimes and then I have to throw them out or you know throw something at them.
If you don't have those kinds of ants, you get fire ants instead, so I hope you like those kinds of ants.

Ok, I admit to having had some cannabis with my leftover pizza tonight, but I’m not even high yet, and first thing I see in Apple News in Daily Beast is Tucker Carlson telling Joe Rogan that Alex Jones (what a fucking trifecta of high rolling assholery) is a fucking psychic prophet who predicted 9/11 (he didn’t). I’ll never be able to afford whatever Tucker’s smoking.

B_Whitewind,

@qurlyjoe What's just incredibly screwed up is that only Newports really did anything. You can still buy Marlboros full menthol like before.
Had anyone but a black president done this there would have been riots in the street. I'll admit it's one of the more confusing things I've ever seen happen.
I know they still sell Marlboros like that for certain because months back I had to stay up for 2 days getting a lot of people somewhere safe and that was the only answer.

Israel-Gaza war live: IDF orders evacuation of central Rafah as it prepares to expand its offensive

@pvonhellermannn This is why these idiots have been saying "full scale invasion" for a year now when referencing Ukraine.
Vladimir Putin did the exact same b******* with a "limited operation".
It'a even the same wording and everything. No one without a gun to their head bought it then and I expect it will have about the same effect now.
It is the actions, not the words of men that are important.

Where do you live and how do you feel about it?

Obviously, don't tell me exactly where you live, no actual addresses please! You can be as vague as you like.

I live in Central Missouri in the U.S.

Pros:

This is an absolutely beautiful place, green rolling hills, lots of rivers, lakes, ponds, and natural springs, cool caves to explore.

Lots of farming here, so great access to quality fruits, vegetables, meat, eggs, and dairy.

It's relatively inexpensive to live here compared with other states, because it's a "flyover".

I'm close enough to three major cities, that it's an easy day trip, and I'm about halfway to anywhere in the U.S.

We have one of the best Conservation departments in the U.S. and this is one of the few things that is a bipartisan issue. Lots of awesome nature programs that are free or cheap, state parks, conservation areas, bird watching, hunting, boating, foraging available to everyone.

Cons:

Yeah, it's a big one, it is a RED STATE, while a lot of the cities are blue, there is a large rural population, that votes red. Abortion is not legal here. People often vote against their own self interest.

While I'm not against responsible gun ownership, lots of people aren't responsible, and people have access to guns that definitely should not.

We have very few employee protections here, while the cost of living is relatively low compared with other places, it's taken years to get to a $12 minimum wage, and it's still not enough.

B_Whitewind,
@B_Whitewind@regenerate.social avatar

@RickiTarr I live in the middle of a forest in Alabama.

Pros:

The forest is nice. Anything I plant just springs out of the Earth with the same warish vigor as everything else that grows out of the ground here.

The yard lizards are my friends and the birds rest outside my door in the thicket to greet me.

Word got out that I was a witch so no one bothers me anymore.

The few pretty people in this area are extremely beautiful.

Our whether is nice here for a couple weeks in the spring and a couple weeks in the fall

Cons:

Hahahaha

Okay, let's see. It's hot like Kenya here in the summer and then freezing like Virginia in the winter.

Everything is poisonous somehow. What isn't is probably either a native invasive plant trying to grow vines up your door or a foreign invasive plant with vines growing up it.

Bugs, few people will ever understand the amount of bugs here. There are five kinds of ants and most of them want inside my house. That is just the ants. One of the most fascinating bugs we have here is known as a chigger locally. I do not know what it is called outside of that. They're nearly microscopic. You cannot see them. You will never know they are there until you wake up covered in them having a real bad time. They prefer to burrow into sensitive areas and cause extreme itching. It is easily on par with poison ivy. At least you can see the poison ivy.

Snakes. Just snakes everywhere. All kinds of snakes. Four kinds of poisonous snakes. Some snakes get as large as people and are angry at God.

Sort of neutral on this one myself but the guns. If you live in a major city, it'll probably lean blue, getting in on that sweet sweet blue dome drive by action downtown, or taking your chances with the locals in the boonies are the only two real options. Wherever you go, you will hear gunshots, constantly. No one shoots off fireworks anymore...

There was a massive fracking push down here, so while we do still have groundwater it will burn your skin off if I'm understanding this correctly.
It's so bad that every couple of months I will hear about someone having their house blow up because they had a well somewhere inside of it from the old days, and the fracking gases came up the pipes and blew them off the face of the Earth 👍

I was so caught up in all this. I almost forgot about the tornadoes. The little building I'm sitting in has been here for 20 years, but not 5 miles down the road is what is left of a school that a tornado erased at about the same time.
One of my earliest memories is of watching a football game there. They do not have those there anymore. They do not have anything there anymore.
When it comes to these things, the difference between life and death is usually a couple of miles. The only people that survived that tornado were I believe a cheerleading squad that hid under a stairwell. Entire towns are regularly just wiped off the face of the Earth. The last job I had I stood everyday where a town once was.
They of course put it back decades later, which was easy because the tornado that hit there was so strong it tore the foundations out of the ground and took them with it. I remember I saw it myself a few days after it had happened. I will never forget that.

And last on this charming list, shall we say most of the people outside of very small concentrated population centers are of a very certain political persuasion. Jeff Sessions was our senator once that about sums it up. If you are not a monster, you are an outcast and that is fine with most of us here.

Is it because of white people in the 1950s? 🤔
