The Biden Administration issued a rule that will cap child care costs at 7% of income for more than 100,000 families that get child care aid under the federal child care block grant.

It's essential for families to have affordable options for child care. Children are the next generation and that generation should be well cared for.

Once again, a New York Times columnist is loudly baffled that the American public is mostly unaware of the Biden administration's solid -- even spectacular -- record of achievement.

Once again, a New York Times columnist totally fails to even consider a key reason -- that news media have done almost nothing to let the American public know about that record.

Which is no surprise to those of us who have been trying to tell early fediverse settlers that discovery has to be prioritized over safety. Unless we can find news and information to begin with, finding it safely becomes moot. Bluesky clearly gets this, which is why the big news accounts are now starting to gravitate there. If the fediverse doesn’t improve in that regard, it will soon become the Linux of social media. Beloved by thousands, ignored by millions.

    “‘He was targeting people based on their race. That is totally unacceptable,’ DeSantis said.”

    Hey, Ron. It’s entirely acceptable in your party. The Republican Party in your state and every state across the US cultivates hate, fosters hate, and rewards hate based on race.

    Whether it's eliminating or watering down Black history or gerrymandering to strip Black political power, the message Republicans are sending is clear. And people like this pick up on it.

    Gun violence is now the leading cause of death among children in the United States.

    Every developed nation has people with mental illness, video games, disgruntled ex-employees, alienated people, homicidal and suicidal persons, etc. Why does the U.S. have the problem it does?

    It’s the same things it always is- the number of firearms, access to them, fetishism surrounding the 2nd Amendment, and the immense political power of the firearms industry.

    Complete disregard for conflicts of interest or judicial ethics. The damage to the Court’s credibility at this point is immeasurable.

    Raping a child is despicable. The death penalty is despicable. Two wrongs don’t make a right.

    DeSantis: always pandering for votes. I mean, rapists would get the death penalty, yet the 10 year old who gets pregnant would be forced to give birth. The Republican Party used to at least pretend to stand for less government and fiscal responsibility. Now, it has no moral compass and no value at all.

    Florida Gov. DeSantis signs bill allowing death sentence for child rape-

    Why is it always red state governors who proclaim to be pro life who push to expand the death penalty? I guess life only counts in utero, and barely at that.

    TonyStark, to random
    @TonyStark@progressivecafe.social avatar

    Republicans always want to achieve “fiscal responsibility” on the backs of the country’s most vulnerable citizens, while leaving its most financially well off unscathed.

    Tax cuts to the very wealthy is the most reckless spending there is while the GOP treats workers, even in red states, like parasites.

    The debt ceiling should be separate, anyway. Biden is right not to negotiate on that.

    @TonyStark
    The Debt Limit should be a stand alone issue. Cuts in spending should be addressed in the yearly budget.

    Political terrorism by the Republican Party.
