I'm curious about Xerox 1980s office workstations like the Star and their document centric systems. And besides I'm a sucker for that black and white aesthetics, so I'm checking out the Dwarf Mesa emulator.
Here the ViewPoint 2.0.5 desktop environment is running in Dwarf under Crostini Linux on my Chromebox. The system is really intuitive and capable, even by today's standards.
Some developers believe in closing all HTML elements. Some have to close all HTML elements. Others don’t believe in doing so, or aren’t forced either way. In “Upgrade Your HTML IV,” I wrote a little about closing void elements.
I grew up reading Heinlein novels too; the difference (I think) is that I learned (a) how to read critically and (b) that Heinlein loved to play fake-out mind games using unreliable narrators, to study ideological positions he didn't necessarily agree with but enjoyed playing with. Oh, and (c) he had some weird unexamined cognitive biases.
More #viewpoint#discrimination by #bigots in #Iowa. #Children in a local #4H club were asked to paint a #window as part of a club project. Their design included a #rainbow which was too much for one so-called club leader who erased the rainbow from their design following an alleged "complaint". This individual decided that ruining the kids' work was the best way to handle the situation. Because Iowa isn't going prioritize First Amendment rights over their ignorant hate.
"It is hard to say openly that you don’t care about the long-term future of the planet because you won’t be alive to see it, or because your short-term profits are more important. So respectable-sounding arguments about the affordability of climate policies are made instead.
But the pushback against these policies should be seen for what it is: a highly political attempt to spare the rich and other heavy carbon emitters from making sacrifices."
There's something fundamentally wrong with this #attitude. If you start from the position that any #viewpoint that is different from your own is #invalid and not held in good faith, what's the point of discussing anything at all?
You're only listening to people who already agree with you. It's an echo chamber, and you pre-emptively dismiss anyone on the outside as evil/disingenuous/corrupt/whatever.
