Up at 04:30 this morning to take my wife to the station & thence the airport for an early flight to Edinburgh, to help our daughter again in her post broken kneecap surgery recovery 🤕🩼
If you know me & my night owl habits, you’ll know how much fun that was 😬✌️
So have some pre-dawn clouds: I’m going back to bed 🤷♂️
Last #eurovision thoughts of the season. #france should have won - a better song and better sung. #norway deserved more points. #unitedkingdom tried to make up for a so-so ditty with incredible staging, but I'm not sure the sweaty-sexy side of it worked well (but it could just be that it wasn't aimed at me). #netherlands were missed (the song, anyway, we'll see what has to be said about the singer) #ireland was still my favourite and for bonus points the singer seems to be a nice person too.
Gutted that #netherlands were disqualified from Eurovision. I was sure #joostklein was going to win! It's the most streamed song out of all the entries. Such a shame.
Staying up late hoping for the #auroraborealis to come back... (no luck so far and might have to give up soon) but glad to hear that #Switzerland :blobcat_flagEnby: has won #eurovision (and not, for example, a country currently engaged in genocide who should definitely have been banned if only the #ebu weren't cowardly hypocrites)
If it "would not be appropriate" for #Netherlands to take part in #eurovision while an investigation by the Swedish police is taking place, why exactly is it just fine for a certain other country to take part while an investigation by the ICC is taking place?
I'm not saying that threatening production crew members is fine; it's just really not on the same level as War Crimes and Genocide though, is it, #ebu?
Looking through my DSLR photos from last night, it's clear I was more interested in watching the aurora than photographing it 😬
And I thought about binning this shot for being massively out-of-focus 🙄
But y'know, it has a certain colourful charm, not least because Ursa Major is writ large in the corner, & maybe it's fine to just go with the flow 🤷♂️
The Dutch artist Joost Klein will not be competing in the Grand Final of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.
Swedish police have investigated a complaint made by a female member of the production crew after an incident following his performance in Thursday night’s Semi Final. While the legal process takes its course, it would not be appropriate for him to continue in the Contest.
We would like to make it clear that, contrary to some media reports and social media speculation, this incident did not involve any other performer or delegation member.
We maintain a zero-tolerance policy towards inappropriate behaviour at our event and are committed to providing a safe and secure working environment for all staff at the Contest. In light of this, Joost Klein’s behaviour towards a team member is deemed in breach of Contest rules.
The Grand Final of the 68th Eurovision Song Contest will now proceed with 25 participating songs
More controversy at this year's Eurovision: The Dutch contestant, Joost Klein will not be rehearsing again until "further notice" and it's unclear whether he will perform in the final as organizers the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) investigate an unexplained backstage incident. Klein had been part of the flag parade at the start of Friday's first rehearsal but then did not appear on stage for either of the day's rehearsals. Sky News says Klein's track, "Europapa," is a current favorite to win. Spain's state-owned broadcaster, RTVE has also hit at out the EBU, calling on it to respect "press and opinion." Here's more.

Lovely weather for this evening’s 60km ride: some warmth left over from the sunny day, but cool enough to be comfortable, & only a slight breeze 🌞🌬️🙇♂️
