Harvested the kangkung I was growing recently and realized that I cut off a shoot with flower buds. It is rare to find flowers on water spinach, so I rescued it and plopped the shoot into water. It has sprouted 😇
There's a kind of satisfaction that you get from growing your own food. Yesterday, I harvested the water spinach from my back balcony and stir fried it. Amazing that all this food grew from seeds that barely fit a teaspoon.
I really like photographing vegetables and fruits. And I think that such a portrait of a fruit or vegetable can be a great decoration in the kitchen or dining room.

#today we put out to share, the last of our cukes, zukes, and sunburst squash. All the vines have now succumbed to either vine borers or bacterial wilt and are headed to their second life as compost for next year's mulching. They're chopped up and mixed with last years leaves and starting to cook down. #compost #compostodon #garden #growden #gardening #NewEngland #vegetables #Allotment
Supper was super tonight. Spaghetti (of course) and air fryer crispy eggplant. More of the creations from the haul of produce I shared Saturday. #Food#Vegetables#Eggplant#AirFryer

Have I spent part of my #summer taking pictures of #BumbleBees yes, yes I have. Gardening has been kind to me; most of the things I planted turned into delicious #fruits, #vegetables, and #flowers and, as if that wasn’t enough, it has reminded me to hit pause and take a closer look at the world around me. I’m loving our pumpkin patch. As a Scot living in America I find watching these things grow just fascinating! Look it’s starting to look like a real orange pumpkin. Gasps and whispers, “does that mean Fall is nearly here?” #pumpkin#vegetables#gardening
I’m sure many here may know of this, but for those that don’t, here’s a good way to start carrots. They are mixed 1 seed packet in a pre made cornstarch (2tb) to 1 cup water. When cooled, mix in seeds, put in plastic bag, cut one corner, and pipe into shallow “ditch”, cover and water. It helps spread seeds, reducing thinning and keeps seeds moist. I’ve used it on poppy seeds too. #gardening#vegetables#carrot#seeds
A whole lotta these made the base for my spaghetti sauce. Blanching and peeling took a long time. The pot began cooking a few hours ago and I just added in the pressure cooked carrots, celery, onion, green pepper, fresh basil and garlic. Another hour at a low simmer and then puree time. I freeze 2 cups at a time in ziplock bags flat. That way I can thaw the right amount quickly. Happy time. #Tomatoes#Vegetables#Food

One of the specialties from the garden.
Due to the hot summer, the P20 Blue tomatoes have an extremely high proportion of dark blue-black (high anthocyanin content) and sugar.

Weather's changing towards the cold as today fades away. Probably a killing frost for the first few weeknights this coming week.
That ominous forecast spurred me to action – so I dug up the last of the #potatoes still in the ground, and uprooted the #rosemary to try and get it through the winter indoors.
