Ach Mist… ganz vergessen.
Cutting & chopping propagated #GreenOnions to use with Teochew beef & meatball soup. We have 2 jars on our kitchen windowsill that we harvest from. We grow them outdoors too.
So anyway, what do I do with our first peach harvest? They’re quite small as it’s our beginner year and didn’t know how best to grow / look after them, but they’re sweet and soft with white flesh. Too many to eat as-is as I’m the only one who really eats them. Should I bottle them or make jam maybe?
There are still dozens more on the trees. 😬🍑 #HomeGrown#GardenFood#FruitTrees
@Delphi Roots allotments are a venture capitalist funded abomination that should not be allowed to grow.
I will celebrate every single time they are refused a foot in the door.
Charles Dowding should be ashamed to support this company of venture capitalists.
We are facing our own struggles with our own site and I’m sure the likes of Roots allotments, (thankfully not involved here) will be influencing some councils to increasingly look on their own council owned allotment sites as money spinners.
Allotment sites are hugely beneficial community assets. They are under threat more now than ever.
Wondering about recording all the food we eat that we have grown, foraged or harvested ourselves.
I did it a couple of years ago and found it was good to see how much we did provide for ourselves & was sometimes a reminder to check the freezer.
If you’re not interested -Feel free to mute #GrownForagedHarvested as I’ll try and remember to add it each time.

food for today was still mostly out the freezer, but with herbs and celery leaves I remembered to pick before it got dark.
Frozen Raspberries, red and black currants in breakfast
Elderberry juice diluted for a drink with local honey (not home produced)
Redcurrant vinegar (I harvested them, friend made them into vinegar)
Added to tonight’s soup: pumpkin, tomatillos, cutting celery leaves, sage, parsley & thyme.
#Today my rainy day project is kumquat, ginger, starfruit chutney. A condiment for many dishes. I just had some with crackers and cream cheese. It makes DELICIOUS baked brie, brightens up lentils and beans, would make a good sweet n sour tofu, and will compliment many meats. #homegrown#homestead#cooking#condiments#sidedish
I am making #marinaraSauce with mushrooms, black olives, and ground beef using fresh #homegrown tomatoes 🍅 that I picked green just before the First Frost. I ripened them in an old flour bag. And #today enough are ripe to make that sauce!! I just cut them up and mashed them with a pestle. Oh, the scent is marvelous!
A Farewell to Summer, homegrown and cherished while it spits snow outside my window. How quickly a season can turn. Summer, I'm going to miss you and all your glorious blooms.
This image and others is available now as puzzles on my etsy: museandmaker.etsy.com
Despite fearing last week that I'd had my last harvest, I'm very lucky to say I harvested a small vaseful more of dahlias from the garden Friday. Cold temps are now here in earnest today, and here's my little farewell to summer.
I've gotten more than a few requests to make my layflat images into puzzles, and after looking into it I finally have an option. I've made them available in a couple sizes on my etsy: museandmaker.etsy.com
Beim #Grünkohl klappt es dieses Jahr nicht so gut. Die #Keimfähigkeit des Samens war nicht so dolle und die Pflanzen konnte ich wegen Platzmangel erst im September setzen. 😒
This morning I pulled out the zucchini. We picked the last one yesterday. The tomatoes are plentiful, but still green, most of them. The lemon cucumber seems to have had a resurgence and is pumping out more veggies. #Gardening#Fall#HomeGrown
