Sometimes humanity can emerge from the worst of circumstances... this case of restorative justice (the meeting of the mother of murder victim Brianna Ghey & the mother of her killer) revives my hopes for human kind.
Awful things happen, but how we deal with them is not set in stone...
Prochaine lecture : *La #Justice restaurative. Pour sortir des impasses de la logique punitive par Howard #Zehr (Labor et Fides, sorti mercredi dernier).

I'm still looking to fill out my syllabus for a class on gender and incarceration and I would love to get recommendations on essays, videos, and other stuff that you've found to be good introductions to prison abolition, restorative justice, and related ideas! Pieces that take people beyond the basics or give perspectives like intersections with queer liberation are welcome!
I have several in mind already, but given that I have so many #leftist and #anarchist friends here, I bet you all could give me some new ones or emphasize the ones that have been useful for introducing people to these ideas!
Rojava’s Women-Led Restorative Justice System Centers Mediation, Not Retribution
"This group formed the basis for what is now a growing women-led restorative justice system that operates within the territory of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), also known as Rojava, a revolutionary social experiment involving more than 4.5 million people. The system features a network, autonomous from the AANES, of more than 60 Mala Jin, or “women’s houses,” which allow people to solve disputes at the community level, instead of through courts or police, by offering reconciliation and mediation processes for domestic and family situations."
Is there a good book, essay, podcast or video you can recommend for me to learn more about restorative justice and transformative justice? #RestorativeJustice#TransformativeJustice
