That’s a funny idea for traffic safety. A traffic light that only turn green if all motorbike riders are wearing a helmet. I wonder if you can do something with OpenDataCam for cars as well 🤔
The #miniholland project in #London is shown to produce a tenfold return on investment! For £100m invested, it provided an health economic benefit of £1,056m!
#CMUH successfully reduced clinical #amputation rates from 30% to 3% & death rates from 30% to 3%. The clinical results were published in the #MedicalJournal "International #Angiology" in April of 2022. #Cars#AirPollution#Automobiles#Transportation#Mobility: "Despite the widespread harm caused by cars and automobility, governments, corporations, and individuals continue to facilitate it by expanding roads, manufacturing larger vehicles, and subsidising parking, electric cars, and resource extraction. This literature review synthesises the negative consequences of automobility, or car harm, which we have grouped into four categories: violence, ill health, social injustice, and environmental damage. We find that, since their invention, cars and automobility have killed 60–80 million people and injured at least 2 billion. Currently, 1 in 34 deaths are caused by automobility. Cars have exacerbated social inequities and damaged ecosystems in every global region, including in remote car-free places. While some people benefit from automobility, nearly everyone—whether or not they drive—is harmed by it. Slowing automobility's violence and pollution will be impracticable without the replacement of policies that encourage car harm with policies that reduce it. To that end, the paper briefly summarises interventions that are ready for implementation."
A rising road toll in the US. A rising road toll in Australia. Journalists give 1000 reasons why it could be happening.
And they studiously avoid mentioning the growing proportion of massive SUVs and pickup trucks on the roads. If they mention it at all, it's only in passing: https://youtu.be/Hb5_RUNeC0g?si=uuns6D1I6fGINdpU
But.
If you have larger and heavier cars, with larger blind spots, of course you're going to have more fatalities!
same weight (92,5kg) tried to improve my #technique ... Did I succeeded?
What I changed was basically rotating my feed a little bit more outwards which allowed me to keep my chest more upwards and getting a overall more stable position.
@TheGymNerd you can deep squat only with a wide stance like me!
It works, so it's good you find this solution 👏🔥
The reason why you can only do it like that is related to #mobility. Currently I'm doing my best to improve my deep #squat mobility, but it takes a lot of time and effort. I'm seeing results but I'm not yet where I'd like to be.
Does anyone in the #ChronicIllness#LongCovid and/or #spoonie community on Mastodon use an electric bicycle as a mobility aid to get out and about?
I would love to be able to go outside more, but the price of electric bikes is fairly prohibitive. It would need to be folding so that I can be rescued if necessary 🙃 Have you found the outlay worth it?
Any helpful comments from e-bikers gratefully received
