Seeing a former #master's #student presenting her #thesis as best thesis (https://github.com/PostElefant/master-thesis) at a prestigious conference makes me proud.
Investing into #young #researchers always pays off. In multiple ways. And supervision is so much more than providing a topic and grading the result. It is ultimately about coaching, encouraging and learning.

What are your experiences and attitudes towards supervision?

I learned a lot about #mobility and #liveability in a #sustainability context from this recent paper by Rui & Othengrafen: https://doi.org/10.3390/su15075709.

Playing with network simplification methods... Visvalingam algorithm way more effective, but seems unable to merge parallel lines on more complex networks. Any ideas on how to do this? A short thread with links... First-up: Visvalingam works well for simple example!

@robinlovelace have you tried identifying segments with same/similar azimuth, feature length and vertices within given proximity?

Today, I re-read this paper and liked it even more than the last time.
Go and read this thought-provoking piece if you are into #mobility #research, #planning or #politics: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jtrangeo.2020.102704
