31 years ago, on December 11, 1992, The Muppet Christmas Carol was released. Arguably the most heartfelt, maybe even the best adaptation of Charles Dickens' novella, and perhaps of any book that has ever been written [slight possibility of exaggeration, citation needed].
Written by Jerry Juhl and directed by Brian Henson. Starring Sir Michael Caine, with a brilliant score by Miles Goodman and songs by Paul Williams. It is the first Muppet film to come out after the passing of Jim Henson and puppeteer Richard Hunt, who was openly gay and tragically passed away at the age of 40 due to HIV/AIDS complications, and it is dedicated to both their memories.
Any filmmakers in here? :)
I decided to suggest 5 tracks of mine for free use in your films.
Message me and I'll send you a link to my Disco where you can download my music or listen online. No license would be needed, only my consent.
This is me trying out something random and scary but it sounds fun if it works out
Released full tracks here (there's more and instrumental versions too!): https://skaly.bandcamp.com/
Poor Things was published in the same year as Gray’s Why Scots Should Rule Scotland, an anti-imperialist and democratic-socialist argument that advocated for civic nationalism where people are equal and active participants in Scottish society. He was an unapologetic supporter of an independent Scotland and a passionate Republican... his repeated order to “work as if you live in the early days of a better nation”.
Thinking tonight about how many "constrained resource" stories of one genre or another I've crossed paths with in my life that strongly promoted the message that the old, the weak, the infirm and the infertile don't deserve to live.
What are some of your favourite stories (in any genre or medium) that counterprogram these kinds of pro-eugenics messages? Who is making them?
Today (May 10) in the U.S 🇺🇸 is #NationalGolfDay ⛳️
The earliest golf game dates back to 15th century Scotland 🏴. Golf looked vastly different way back, people used clubs or bent sticks to hit a pebble around tracks or dunes. #QuirkyFilmQuestion#FilmMastodon 📽️ 🎬
An excellent remake of the George Romero classic. My Favorite Zack Snyder movie. James Gunn's screenplay mines every ounce of terror from the high-concept premise
You may now have a moment to Google what a "Mall" is.
That'll teach you to give birth right next to a Hot Dog on a Stick.
#BehindTheScenes #DieHard (1988)
Alan Rickman 'hangs around' moments before shooting his character, Hans Gruber's death scene.
Both Sam Neill and Richard Gere passed on the chance to take the role of Gruber, how lucky that Mr Rickman took it and gave it iconic status. #FilmMastodon 📽️ 🎬
Requisite Eddie Murphy family #movie: Christmas Edition.
With a two hour running time, it tests your patience with subplots that should have been jettisoned and sequences that should have been trimmed but then you remember you're watching a Christmas movie and you don't care about things like that but at least it's not one of those Stepford White People Hallmark #Movies.
From the director of Boomerang.
The Amazon corporation teaches you the true meaning of Christmas!!!
Uneven but entertainingly lurid crime movie that fulfills the Luke Skywalker/Candyman team up you spent years wishing for.
Decent performances cover up a derivative story. Gratuitous gore and nudity also cover up most of its flaws.
Nothing special but you never feel your time is wasted.
Watch even if you're allergic to seafood.
