In 2017 a man, after some thought, had a simple but genius idea and took a camera on a Southwest flight from Portland, Oregon to St. Louise and captured one of the most breathtaking images of all time.
Jon Carmichael's "108" is probably my favorite #eclipse image and provokes introspection every time I see it.

So apparently there is a Lunar #Eclipse coming in on May 5th (penumbral only, so not as dramatic as full ones) which is pretty cool (and I only got to know about it today!)
It's more than @mmasnick describes here. It's like suddenly you're on an entirely different planet. Seriously: A. Different. Planet. with a writhing black and violet (and yellow still, just not as much) sun in the sky, the air around you strange and electric, the world a changed thing, all at once.
Randomly noting: if you're in the US, in April of 2024, the US will have a solar eclipse pass over a bunch of states for the first time in 7 years, and for the last time in decades.

This was nothing short of magical and one of the most amazing experiences of my life.

I'm looking forward to the moon landing attempt tomorrow of the ispace HAKUTO-R craft carrying a Tomy selfie camerabot and a 4-wheeled rover. There are great photos already from the lander, presently in lunar orbit at 100km up. Haven’t had a chance to share this on here until now … whilst lots of folks looked up to see the #SolarEclipse I was checking out the Himarawi-8 satellite, which looks down and keeps its watchful eye on this hemisphere of Earth.
