52 Cygni and a wisp of the Western Veil Nebula, making me want to tear out the ir filter in my little Canon M200 😹
Don’t get me wrong, I was delighted to see the blue show up with a decent amount of detail, but the faint traces of reds just make me want more.
This is 168x 30 seconds at iso1600 through my 7” f/4.5 reflector on homemade equatorial mount with RA drive only.

The Helix nebula. This is only about 50 minutes or so integration. I should probably be getting more time into tonight but instead I’m trying to see what I can get of the Veil nebula at 800mm fl. I really like this though even if it is a little grainy.

Moon and Uranus last night. Uranus is the tiny dot to the right of the cloud. Spent about an hour waiting for the cloud cover to present the right combination of filtering the brightness of the moon and leaving a clear spot for the much dimmer planet.

Learned how to use @gimp to stretch the histogram in my stacked images and liking it a lot better that what I had been doing. Getting better colors as well.

117x 30 seconds at iso1600, stacked with 50 each dark, flat, dark flat, and bias frames in Deep Sky Stacker, stretched in GraXpert.

Comet C/2023 P1 (Nishimura) in Cancer. Middle Tennessee, 31 August, 2023, 05:00 (utc-5) This one was only discovered a few weeks ago, and will get bright enough to see unaided over the next few weeks, but unfortunately will be too close to the sun to actually see (cue sad trombone.) A bit noisy, but not too bad for five minutes at dawn.

Saturn is at opposition this weekend, but I don’t think weather is going to cooperate. Last night seemed clear enough, but the footage I got was wobbly as heck and didn’t get a good image out of it. I did managed to figure out a better stacking program though, and reprocessed my footage from last week. This is probably as good an image as I’m gonna get for now, and it’s pretty darn good, so I’m ok with that.

Saw the Pleiades rising above the trees early this morning after photographing Jupiter, and decided to see if they would fit in the field of view of my 7” f/4.5 scope. 880mm focal length with the coma corrector. Just barely, lol. Really nice to see them again!

NGC 6946/ Caldwell 12/ Fireworks Galaxy, a spiral galaxy 87,300 light years in diameter, 25 million light years away, between the constellations Cepheus and Cygnus.
Started shooting this Friday night after taking too long to find it and only getting 40 good frames before the clouds rolled in. I left everything set up, with the focuser locked, and last night I was able to just slew the right ascension axis back until I found it again.
