#AbortionRights Heard on a Reuters piece yesterday, "I don't think I'll vote for Biden since Roe v. Wade was rolled back under him."
ADDED: Too much of the US population doesn't know how the system works. The conservative court system doesn't go away with an Executive administration change. Alito and Thomas rolled back Roe, and the sycophantic Trump appointees fell in line. (Roberts rightfully goes unmentioned.) Obegerfell could easily be next.
From bounty-hunters to “fetal personhood” bills, GOP state #lawmakers are finding new ways to criminalize not only terminating pregnancies, but nearly all forms of bodily autonomy.
@andreagrimes breaks it all down in this essential read.
A big part of the anti-abortion movement fervently believes in fetal personhood (explainer:http://tinyurl.com/bdeh5emf) & AL, AZ, GA, KS & MI now have personhood laws
Heads up! If you live in Alabama and have frozen embryos stored at a fertilization clinic, you have a good case for claiming them as dependents for tax purposes now. Get those child tax credits!
Proceed directly to the Social Security Administration and have a social security number assigned to each embryo.
Apply for food stamps, Medicaid, and other social assistance based on your new, higher number of dependents.
In supporting a 16-week ban w/exceptions, Donald Trump appears to be trying to satisfy social #conservatives who want to further restrict #abortion access & voters who want more modest limits.
#Trump has studiously avoided taking a clear position on restrictions to #abortion since #RoeVWade was overturned in the middle of 2022, galvanizing #Democrats ahead of the midterm elections that year. He has said in private that he wants to wait until the #Republican presidential #primary contest is over to publicly discuss his views, because he doesn’t want to risk alienating social conservatives before he has secured the nomination….
#Trump has approached #abortion transactionally since becoming a candidate in 2015, & his current private discussions reflect that same approach.
One thing Trump likes about a 16-week federal ban on abortions is that it’s a round number (seriously). “Know what I like about 16?” Trump told one of these people, who was given anonymity to describe a private conversation. “It’s even. It’s four months.”
Be very aware... abortion rights and trans rights are closely intertwined. It's about bodily autonomy. It's about whether you, as a person, get a say in what happens to your body, or whether a bunch of old white men get to use their religion card on you.
