Trust In Supreme Court Fell To Lowest Point In 50 Years After Abortion Decision, Poll Shows

The 77%-28% split between Democrat and Republicans in their backing for abortion rights is the largest-ever partisan divide on the question.

Large majorities of Americans said they think a woman should be able to have an abortion if her own health is at risk, if there is a strong change of a serious defect in the baby or if the pregnancy was the result of rape.

Judges who chipped away abortion rights to hear federal abortion pill appeal

Three appeals court judges with a history of supporting restrictions on abortion will hear arguments May 17 on whether a widely used abortion drug should remain available

The case involves a regulatory issue — whether the Food and Drug Administration's approval of mifepristone and subsequent actions making it easier to obtain must be rolled back

This is not a moderate bill. This is one of the most extreme I've seen. The restrictions target access and force doctors to lie to patients. You can't make 3 appointments at a clinic that doesn't exist. It also mandates that doctors misinform based on far right junk "science.” It's an authoritarian nightmare with a moderate sounding name.

North Carolina GOP Rushes New Abortion Ban

Only weeks after a NC Democrat suddenly changed parties ― giving the GOP a veto-proof majority Republicans in the statehouse on Wednesday unveiled a 12-week abortion ban. Anti-choice tried to restrict abortion in the Southern state since it became a safe haven for care after federal abortion protections were repealed last year, and the proposed abortion ban now has a very real chance of becoming a law.

The number one killer of children in America is gun violence. Where is a Republican doing something about that?

The Republicans in NC described this bill as “pro-woman.” I can’t think of anything more NOT pro-woman than restricting their bodily autonomy in any way and interfering in personal medical decisions. The GOP again show they don’t GAF about anything other than being in control or life.

@TonyStark The rebels, misleadingly masquerading as "Republicans" are failing to disguise their anti-human slaveholder mentality & disgraceful heritage.

And they'll be going to hurt women affiliated with their organization, too.

You can bet — women won't forget. Nor will their loving partners, if there'll be harm.

😎💪 The Federal Government is warning hospitals, that are denying pregnant women emergency abortion, they're breaking federal law & putting women's lives in jeopardy.

To be clear: First & foremost the insurrectionary "Republicans" with their anti-human "legislation" are forcing hospitals to turn pregnant women seeking emergency abortion away.

It's the rebellious "Republicans", who are recklessly endangering the lives of pregnant women.

OMG!! I can't believe this, but I love it! Five women Senators in South Carolina
( 3 Republicans and 2 Democrats) defeated a near-total ban on abortion. In Nebraska, it was an 80-year-old Republican State Senator Merv Riepe who abstained from voting to advance the near-total ban. Republicans with SENSE saved two states today from abortion bans. Yeh, I don't type that many times!

"fear among some Republicans that abortion bans could lead to political backlash.

...decried what would have been a near-total ban on abortion. One, Sen. Sandy Senn (R), likened the implications to the dystopian novel “The Handmaid’s Tale,” in which women are treated as property of the state.

Abortion laws, Senn said, “have always been, each and every one of them, about control — plain and simple”"

"Secret Shoppers" in Oklahoma pretended to be pregnant women. They called 34 hospitals in the state to ask about the hospitals' policies on pregnancy complications requiring abortions.

"I think one of the most frightening statements, which was at one of the hospitals, the person was trying to be reassuring and she said,

'Oh, well, you know, in the case of a medical emergency, we would try to use the woman's body as an incubator to just try to keep the pregnancy going as long as possible'"

In the US, we make women wait in the hospital parking lot until they are on the verge of death before turning their expiring bodies into incubators in the ER.

Trump Defends Push To Restrict Abortion Rights After Rebuke

Donald Trump, stinging from a rebuke by a leading anti-abortion group, used a speech in Iowa to spotlight his actions as president to try to restrict abortion rights.

Chief among the accomplishments Trump listed were his nominations of three conservative judges to the U.S. Supreme Court. The appointments paved the way for the overturning last year of the landmark Roe. v. Wade ruling

The #5thCircuit next month will review the merits of the case brought by antiabortion groups against the #FDA’s regulation of #mifepristone — a review that will be conducted by a separate, & likely different, 3-judge panel than the one that made the initial ruling. That merits decision will almost surely be appealed to #SCOTUS no matter the outcome. But until then, the justices’ Fri order says… Mifepristone will be available under existing FDA regulations nationwide.

One of the perks of not living in Texas (besides that glaringly obvious one) is that you can donate to this charity and potentially get placed on a bounty list by a lunatic who may try to sue you for $10,000 if they find out about your donation and learn that you’re visiting.

It’s like an extra perk for donating to a good cause 😈😈😈

Donate and keep the lunatics busy, folks!

Last night, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a bill banning abortions after six weeks of pregnancy. It's one of the most restrictive abortion bans in the country.

Make no mistake: Bans like these aren’t “pro-life”. They are pro-poverty and pro-inequality. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SN3oLwO0OEE

DeSantis clearly knows that signing into law an abortion ban is very unpopular with the majority in the USA - that’s why he did not even mention the bill he signed yesterday during his speech to the students at Liberty University (a conservative Christian school) today!

This mifepristone ruling was literally the worst decision from a federal judge that I've ever read. It’s worse than Aileen Cannon's rulings in the Trump document case, which I didn't think was possible.

It’ll be interesting to see how the Fifth Circuit reacts. They're a bunch of right-wing cranks themselves, but maybe they’ll know better.

Separate the church from the state.

I had read a Yahoo article back in February on this and one of the replies was "Should Judge Matthew J. Kacsmaryk try to take Mifepristone off the US market, you need to file a complaint with the clerk of court for the fifth district in New Orleans that the judge is practicing medicine without a license and using his personal religious beliefs to sway his judicial decisions. (Both are considered judicial misconduct.)"

Here's the address and the form to do so:

Anti-abortion rights activists and politicians are trying to end mifepristone NATIONWIDE – even in states that have protected abortion access.

Fact: Mifepristone is safe, effective, and has been used by more than 5 million people in the U.S. since the FDA approved it more than 20 years ago.
