Does anybody know of any successful permaculture market gardens? I know Jean-Martin Fortier incorporates permaculture design into his farms but I don't know of other successful examples.
Hey #horticulture peeps. What's your suggestions for #indoorPlants that would be good for an elderly person with #dementia? Things that are hard to kill by either neglect, or overwatering, for a bright room but with no direct sunlight in cool temperate climate lutruwita/Tasmania).
It’s #autumn, it’s getting cooler and it’s harvest time. Here’s a batch of #grapes in a 5-litre bucket. I’d say it’s about 20% of the total we’ve had this year. On the negative side, we didn’t get too many tomatoes this year.
#Salvia elegans 'Scarlet Tangerine'. One of the plants I really regret losing when a late spring frost scorched us two years ago. Its common name is pineapple sage and the leaves smell distinctly like pineapple plus mint. The tea is fantastic. Hummingbirds love the flowers. This cultivar is somewhat compact and blooms profusely from midsummer on.
It’s that time of the #year where I make a #calendar for the next one. I decided the theme for next year would be #pollinators. All #photographs are by me and were taken either in our front or back #garden. Hope you like the pictures. You don’t? Well never mind, you can print out just the months instead.
Flower of #artichoke, #Cynara cardunculus var. scolymus, which we don't usually get to see as it's the tightly-closed buds we eat. But it's a gorgeous bloom.
"Keep rare plants in your living room or garden, a horticultural charity has urged people in Britain, because creating a “national collection” can save pollinator-friendly plants from becoming extinct."
The late summer garden still delivers. The first three of my #SixOnSaturday are all native plants, and some are show-casing their berries this time of year: Callicarpa americana (American Beautyberry), Vernonia glauca (Appalachian Ironweed), and Aralia racemosa (American Spikenard).
